Whether you are experiencing relationship issues, are looking to break patterns, or are wanting to get to know yourself better, therapy is a wonderful place to foster personal growth. I love working with people to understand their "why" and to find ways to create a rich, fulfilling life. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who may identify as LGBTQIA+, artists, people with uteruses, and caregivers of children and/or older adults. I work in person and virtually. You can schedule a free 15 minute consultation with me here: calendly.com/kelseylogan

I like to incorporate mindfulness meditation practice into therapy when working with clients, practicing being in the present moment and appreciate the here and now, what is working well for the client, gaining more, better self-awareness into the things that are working positively for the client, that they may continue to do more what is working well for them, and in return, feeling wholesome, remedial, gaining improvement in their lives, with feeling happier, feeling more positive, enhancing their emotional and mental well-being.

Do you struggle to exist as your authentic self in a society that feels like it isn’t meant for you? Perhaps you feel unheard, or like you must hide certain parts of yourself in order to be accepted by others. Maintaining relationships, achieving goals, and experiencing joy can often feel like an uphill battle in an oppressive world. Yet, advocating for ourselves takes bravery and vulnerability can become a source of strength. In our sessions together, I’ll help you navigate life's challenges, develop practical skills, and embrace profound shifts in perspective.

We all experience difficult moments in our lives, and usually we have the tools to handle them. But when we consistently feel overwhelmed, stuck, trapped, fearful, helpless or empty, psychotherapy can help us become more conscious of what's behind our troubles and move to resolve them. as a result, relationships, self-esteem and life circumstances can improve. I work to develop a caring, supportive and trusting relationship with my clients, so they can feel safe to explore their past, honestly look at their feelings, thoughts and behaviors, and move towards positive change.

Do you feel stuck, despite being highly self-aware? Have you tried talk therapy before and it felt nice to vent, but it didn’t really create the transformation or deep healing and relief from anxiety you were looking for? I help millennial women like you by using a holistic approach to therapy. I combine EMDR therapy, art therapy, IFS therapy and somatic practices like nervous system regulation to heal at the root of your issues, discover what you want out of life, and create lasting changes. I also offer EMDR Intensives for those who want to heal NOW and don't want to spend months or even years in the traditional therapy model.

I utilize a variety of approaches in my work with clients, while tailoring each treatment plan to the individual and incorporating the goals that each person brings to treatment. Each person is unique and that is why I choose an integrative approach in my work. I incorporate both interpersonal and psychodynamic modalities with cognitive behavioral treatments in an effort to target both insight building and positive behavioral changes.

Do you struggle with challenging emotions or symptoms of trauma? With over 30 years experience working with children, teens and adults, my attachment based approach combines didactic and somatic approaches to best fit the needs of every client. Children need a safe and playful space to work through difficult issues. Expressive arts approaches and DBT methods are effective when words are not enough. My compassionate and down to earth process examines old patterns that no longer serve you as you discover new empowered parts of yourself. We work on concrete tools to address issues such as anxiety, depression, and symptoms of trauma.

It is never too late or too early to work toward who you wish to be. You can feel happy, secure, hopeful, confident, and less stressed to enjoy your life fully. Life challenges can make it difficult to find peace, but engaging with therapy can help ease these symptoms and guide you in your healing process. With my experience working with adults and adolescents, I have helped people overcome symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma and improve their interpersonal skills.

My goal is to help you achieve a sense of control over your life, your choices, and your relationships. Oftentimes people come to therapy when they feel dissatisfied with some or all areas of their lives and they can't seem to figure out why or what to do about it. Through empathic listening, warmth, humor, and genuine engagement, I help people gain insight into their unique ways of thinking and operating and then work to build up strong, self-affirming thoughts and compassionate feelings to combat negative patterns. Therapy is hard work, but so worth the investment!

With recognition that language may not be confined to the word, my work is to listen. It is important to me that speech is only ever new, and while history is written, the present can change. I have known psychoanalysis to lead to the location of new and different meaning in dreams, habits and interactions. This can have a significant effect on your symptoms, anxieties, and capacity to participate and find joy in work and social life.

I start working with individuals or families when they want something to change - even if they’re still figuring out what exactly that is. Often, families approach me with struggles over behavior at home or school. Individuals seek to work with me to overcome pervasive anxiety, whether general anxiety or specific fears and obsessions. Yet others struggle with depression and feeling unable to get their life “on track” they way they expect to. I’m a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults of all ages.

My therapeutic journey has led me to embrace the diversity of human experiences. From supporting displaced individuals in Grad school to working with a broad spectrum of clients at a high-risk mental health clinic, I've found fulfillment in every encounter. There's no 'ideal' client for me—each person's story is worth hearing, whether they're facing trauma, anxiety, or other challenges. My goal is simple: to offer empathy and support as they navigate their unique paths to healing and self-discovery.

I am a bilingual/bicultural Spanish speaking Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Mindful Momentos, Marriage and Family Therapy. My license and training has exclusively focused on clinical practices. I seek to accompany my clients on their journey towards emotional healing and self-worth. I know that therapy is a difficult and often painful process of self-discovery. It is most effective when done in a supportive and empathic environment where it feels safe to be challenged, to explore the influence of the past, and to make changes in the here and now. As such are the beliefs and practices stemming from psychodynamic theory

Do you have a great life, and wonder why you don’t feel more content? Do you sometimes wish you could better handle common challenges – relationships, worries, anger, or disappointments? Our ability often depends on how our parents handled these challenges themselves. The early years are critical for developing coping skills, or better yet, emotional resilience: the ability to adapt to stressful events, to resolve them, and to ultimately thrive.

At some point, we've all struggled. Many of us have felt sadness, anxiety, and fear. We feel because we're human. We can't switch our feelings off, but we can learn to better understand them and show them who's boss. If you are reading this, there's a chance you're struggling with difficult feelings, too. Maybe you've experienced a trauma at some point, a big life change, a loss, a relationship issue, family conflict, existential qualms, or just aren't feeling like yourself anymore? Maybe you have difficulty with anxiety in social settings, anxiety in relationships, or low self-esteem and want to make a change for the better?

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in New York?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
