I tend to say "Therapy is for people who are dealing with others who won't go to therapy." I understand making that first step can be challenging and anxiety provoking. In the first session, I gather information about your life and what brought you to therapy. Many clients come to the first session feeling anxious, but at the end of the first session are much more relaxed. I enjoy using Cognitive Processing Therapy, it is similar to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It works to help challenge your thoughts to be more balanced.
