I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over fifteen years of experience working with adults, children, and families. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I have extensive experience working with survivors of trauma (children and adults), child abuse and neglect, domestic abuse, foster/adoption issues, parenting, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety. I have worked in crisis centers, children's system of care, adult and children's group homes, ran therapeutic and psycho-educational groups, and have done intensive in home clinical work.

Self knowledge can lead to change. My approach to therapy is to explore areas of difficulty in your life and to discover the underlying causes. I create a trusting, supportive and collaborative environment which fosters personal growth and facillitates change.

I specialize in perinatal and infant mental health. Perinatal psychological issues occur in the times before, during, and/or after a pregnancy. Postpartum depression is the most often talked about condition, but symptoms are not always limited to AFTER a child is born. These feelings can be extremely distressing, especially during a time when others are expecting you to be happy. You may be suffering after a miscarriage, stillbirth, or even death during pregnancy. Dr. Lysandra Perez-Strumolo is a NJ licensed psychologist, an EMDRIA certified EMDR therapist, & bilingual (Spanish). Services aim to promote healing & development and to help clients experience a meaningful & healthy life, and further develop skills for coping with difficult challenges. Dr. Perez-Strumolo has specialized training the treatment of children, adolescents & adults with anxiety and symptoms related to psychological trauma (single, complex, or relationship-related trauma). Dr. Perez also offers couples therapy for those interested in improving communication, commitment and enjoyment in their intimate relationships.

Over the past twenty five years I have used Neuofeedback to help several hundred clients struggling with such issues as anxiety, depression, problematic sleep and epilepsy. In particular, l have specialized in working with people facing neurodevelopmental challenges, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD, improving attention, communication, mood and behavioral rigidities. It has been shown that behavioral and emotional difficulties are associated with problem brain wave patterns. Neurofeedback is a conditioning program that trains people to change their brain waves by replacing them with more adaptive ones.
