As women, oftentimes life demands a huge amount of our energy and mental capacity. In order to keep up, we tend to neglect ourselves or our relationships. When this happens we can begin to feel unbalanced. This constant demand can lead to overwhelming feelings of worry or sadness. We may worry about our future, the people in our lives, or things we need to get done. Additionally, at times we might feel as though we are being tested or triggered by unresolved issues or people from our past. This along with other challenges is bound to leave us feeling completely drained and out of balance.

During 51 years of practice, I have treated cases ranging from toilet training, school phobias, heart-break, good marriages and bad marriages, depressed adults, homocidal and suicidal persons, and every behavior disorder common to daily living. For the past several years my work has been largely related to family, marital, child development issues, and sadly many family court related cases. My practice is behavioral, and problem oriented. I have always attempted to avoid the, "purchase of friendship" consequences of long term therapy. I may not "cure" many persons, but I am certain that I have helped thousands.

Trauma, PTSD, Depression, Postpartum Depression, Panic Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, Relationship struggles, Divorce, Parenting, and Childhood Behavior Problems. I have seen a wide range of clients struggling with many of lifes challenges. I approach their concerns individually with warmth, knowledge, and compassion. Initially, I started out as a child therapist but then went on to study 5 years of post graduate work in adult psychoanalysis. Today I work with all populations. More recently I have been focusing my studies and practice on the trauma of living through a pandemic.

Each of us is a truly original, unrepeatable, irreplaceable, unique, sacred, precious, creative, talented and healthy self that through a process of nature and nurture spends each moment of time evolving and expressing ourselves through love, compassion, caring, empathy and other virtuous relationships. Therapy is a process of celebrating the evolution of each person's true self. It is our way, modern and ancient, eastern and western, artistic and technological, spiritual and practical of Self development. Therapy is also our newest and oldest path of protecting, nurturing, supporting and upholding all that is virtuous, positive, meritorious, innocent, ethical, benevolent and philanthropic in ourselves while learning to handle, manage, cope, organize, and select our purpose, meaning and priorities in life. Therapy teaches us the surivival skills that help us become efficacious and masterful in life. We establish, goals we wish to achieve, priorities we wish to establish, a clear plan of action, which evolves as we evolve, with the help of a trained professional who respects both our free will and our fate, our unique mission and our destiny.

If you have been thinking about speaking with a therapist, chances are that it’s time. Talking to a stranger about the most intimate details of your life can be an intimidating feat to overcome, and being vulnerable can be scary. That is why it's my goal to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable exploring and processing your thoughts and emotions. I recognize the importance of developing a genuine connection that feels like a ‘natural fit,’ and aim to make you feel unconditionally accepted and supported. My specialty is helping young adults and adolescents that suffer from anxiety, depression, and trauma.

I am primarily a female-focused therapist working with adolescent, teen and adult females in the state of New Jersey, through virtual sessions. I use a humanistic approach to therapy where I treat every patient the way I would my own friends and family - with a healthy dose of humor and rapport :) I believe our relationship is key to the therapeutic process. My speciality is in anxiety, depression and PTSD. With my person-centered approach, I use a mix of modalities tailored specifically to each individual's needs and goals. I combine my education, along with nine years experience, to best treat each individual.

Adoption Therapists

Does my adopted child need therapy?

Not every adopted child needs therapy. However, many can benefit from seeing an adoption-informed therapist, especially if they were victims of abuse or neglect, appear withdrawn or disconnected, have behavioral or developmental issues (which may or may not be related to their adoption), are struggling with feelings of grief or loss surrounding their birth parents, or find it difficult to establish an identity, a challenge that often becomes most apparent during adolescence.

When should adoptive parents seek therapy?

Prospective parents can benefit from therapy even before an adoption—for example, to voice worries and fears; to reconcile infertility struggles, if relevant; or simply to prepare themselves for parenthood. After the adoption, parents who are struggling to bond with their child; are unsure how to talk about adoption or related issues, such as race; or whose child is dealing with developmental, behavioral, or psychiatric concerns can address these and other issues with the help of an adoption-competent therapist.

Is family therapy appropriate for adoptive families?

Family therapy can be invaluable for strengthening the bond between adoptive parents and children, helping the latter feel more secure in their place in the family. Family therapy can also help adoptive families navigate complex communication issues—for example, parents who feel uncomfortable discussing race with their child, who in turn feels invalidated by their silence, or a child who has questions about his birth parents but avoids asking them out of fear of hurting his adoptive parents’ feelings.

What therapy is not appropriate for adoption issues?

A discredited therapy known as “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy” or “rebirthing therapy”) should not be used to treat adopted and foster children, though it was largely designed for this population. Attachment therapy involves restraining, coercing, and punishing the child in order for them to “release” negative emotions and attach to their new caregivers—techniques that are abusive and dangerous and have even proven fatal in some cases.
