For over 20 years I have been providing patients with a safe space that is mutually created together through a trusting connection built to hold whatever you bring into therapy. My focus is on longer term therapy that is aimed at achieving real and lasting change in one's life. It is also my experience that once many of the initial issues are worked through, whether they are older emotional wounds or current relationship issues, that ultimately what will emerge are your own unique qualities that will allow you to flourish in all aspects of your life.

I believe in the integration of the mind and body in order to create change, growth and healing. I value your awareness, knowledge and self-insight as an integral part of our work together. I use a dynamic approach to therapy and include EMDR, mindfulness and psychodrama. I work with clients across a wide range of ages, backgrounds and presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, jealousy, anger, panic, phobias, trauma, relationship/family conflicts, sexuality/sexual identity, polyamory and parenting challenges.

I've been a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), and a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) for almost twenty years. I work with individuals, couples, and families out of the basement office of my home in Arlington, MA. My most basic therapeutic approach is that everyone is born good and whole. But, life happens and it sends us difficulties that we can’t always understand. These difficulties can happen as children, adolescents, adults, in school, home, work, and in our marriages. Sometimes these problematic life experiences can affect our core beliefs negatively and/or overwhelm our abilities to cope.

Every client's healing path is different. We work together to find what works for you. Listening, empathy and non-judgemental acceptance are characteristics of my clinical approach. I believe that therapy is an interactive process and I promote a safe, supportive environment where individuals can become aware of new ways to manage difficult challenges, situations and emotions. My commitment is to help individuals grow, make changes that are important to them and expand their opportunities so they can move forward in their lives reaching their full potential and optimal health.

I am a "generalist" and clinically serve individuals, couples and families across all phases of development (from pre-teens and adolescents through to older adults). Psychotherapy is a process designed to increase general mental health and well-being by clarifying goals and values, strengthening psychological weaknesses, and learning more effective and sophisticated strategies to better manage emotional, social and internal (e.g. thoughts) life. Through a gentle but focused conversational style, I utilize the latest clinical research and theory to construct a collaborative and personally-tailored treatment plan that aims for symptom relief and performance enhancement.

I see patients searching for meaning and fulfillment in their lives, or wrestling with existential issues of loneliness, a sense of loss or mild to profound disconnection. Sometimes this coincides with anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulty relating to others, or a lack of comfort living in their own body.

I have been a child & adolescent therapist for 46 yrs., & I enjoy my work greatly. I also work with parents who want advice and guidance about parenting skills. Children can change much faster than adults, and that is why I love working with young people. I try to support their strengths, encourage their creativity, relate to them with warmth and humor. I also work with parents with children, and with parents with teens if teens want me to. I like the challenge of connecting with both children and teens, ages 4 to 20. Connecting requires intuition and open-heartedness.

I am best suited to treating depression, anxiety,trauma,sexual identity issues, as well as relationship issues and issues of life purpose including career and relationships. Stressful experiences, challenging behaviors, and emotional distress can impact all ages, beginning with very young children. As a clinical psychologist, my focus is to provide compassionate care and strength based support to children, teens, and families as well as adults. I am experienced treating anxiety, mood and trauma related disorders, as well as relationship issues. My treatment approach starts with an assessment of each person’s needs. Having received post doctoral training as a child and family therapist, I work through an array of cognitive behavioral interventions, expressive and talk therapies and psycho-education with ages three and older.

Through exploration and collaboration, I help clients gain more clarity, become more connected, and feel greater satisfaction with their lives. In addition, I provide supervision, consultation and training to clinicians on group therapy and a variety of other topics.

In the over thirty years I have worked as a psychotherapist, I have learned a good deal about what promotes a successful therapy experience. The most effective and enduring results occur within a collaborative client-therapist relationship that is interactive, supportive, and mutually respectful. I make HOME VISITS to clients who cannot travel conveniently or prefer psychotherapy sessions in their homes. I will be facilitating a CO-ED RELATIONSHIP GROUP one night during the week. The fee is $25. There is no obligation to commit, though I am looking for people who like to come weekly. I do Individual, Couples, Family, and Group Therapy. I have two groups on BEREAVEMENT in MILTON and ARLINGTON. I am forming a GROUP on SUBSTANCE ABUSE/RECOVERY ISSUES. I have a lot of experience with children of ALL AGES. I believe in STRENGTH-BASED COUNSELING.
