Welcome! I specialize providing psychotherapy for adults coping with depression, anxiety and stress. LGBTQ clients are always welcome. I have a special interest in providing mental health support for conception, pregnancy, postpartum, adoption, and infertility. Whether you're currently pregnant, coping with the stress of a new baby, dealing with infertility or considering adoption, I would be honored to help you navigate the seasons of new parenthood. I also enjoy working with birthparents, adoptive families and adoptees coping with identity, reunion, and grief issues.

Kara Clark is a licensed clinical social worker with years of experience in adoption, mental health, marital and family relationships, and addiction. Kara values a holistic approach from an attachment and trauma perspective while utilizing different modalities of therapy to meet the needs of her clients.

Therapy should be a safe place for you to work on goals, gain skills to better deal with life challenges, and/or to take back your life from the effects of trauma, depression, or anxiety. I customize my style for each individual and use evidence-based interventions to help you reach your goals. We can work together to help you find understanding, and catalyze growth and healing. I worked in the corporate world for 10+ years, and understand the struggles of managing a team, proving your worth, and finding time and ways to care for your soul.

With 10+ years of experience, I work with clients with a variety of mental health needs. I work with children as young as 3 in play-based therapy, addressing anxiety, behavioral issues, parenting needs and familial transitions. I also work with couples exploring pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling, separation/divorce or co-parenting. I work with teens struggling with anxiety or depression as they navigate the realms of social media and pressures of GenZ. I also see many adult clients 1:1 who just need extra support in this season of life: whether from work stressors or family conflict or just wanting better mental wellness.

I view counseling as a collaborative relationship between the client and the counselor. This collaborative relationship allows the client and therapist to work together to address issues the client is facing through the development of mutually agreed upon clinical and personal goals. During therapy, I focus on patterns of thoughts, behaviors, moods, and communication that may contribute to client distress. I often address these issues utilizing Person-Centered, Systems, Cogitative Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (evidenced-based therapeutic practices).

Growing up watching my grandmother struggle daily with mental illness, I naturally grew to have a heart for helping other people. I have spent the last decade of my life in the helping community and I believe that it is my life’s purpose to help people actualize the life they wish to have. I explain my position as a therapist by saying this to my clients, “It’s not my job to fix you because you are not broken. It’s my job to help you see things in a different way that will help you to function better” I welcome you as clients to embark on this journey of healing. It’s not always easy but the results with be so rewarding.

I am a clinical and developmental psychologist who works with young children, adolescents, and adults. I have special interest in post-partum mothers, anxiety reactions, and personality and identity development through life's transitions (parenting, separation, coping with college, new baby, grief, identity crises, major life events, etc.). I work with patients with symptoms of anxiety, depression, attention or learning problems, and those who have experienced traumatic stress or unusual mental symptoms.

Candase Martel is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana. She has a B.A. from University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana and a Master's Degree in Counseling from the McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as hundreds of hours of continuing education. Candase is a member of the Louisiana Counseling Association. Candase is a supervisor for provisional licensed professional counselors and is a family and divorce mediator. Candase has years of experience as an expert witness in custody cases. She has over 12 years experience as an educator, school counselor, and therapist interacting with all families.

John Otzenberger, Psy. D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with almost 30 years of experience working with a variety of populations, including children (ages 10 and older), adolescents and adults. Most recently, Dr. Otzenberger served as the Director of Mental Health Services at the LSU Student Health Center, overseeing a team of clinicians that provides psychological care for more than 32,000 students. As a trained Adlerian psychologist, Dr. Otzenberger’s goal is to help clients develop a sense of social connection through the positive development of relationships within family, school, work, and community.
