Hi, I’m glad you're here. Right now you may be at a point where you’re tired of being "strong” all the time, people-pleasing, and struggling with low self-esteem. You're the type of person that doesn't ask for help and you're probably pretty good at “having it all together.” I can imagine how exhausted you must feel. I would love to help ease your burdens. With my empathetic and easy-going nature, I'll help you let your guard down, regain control over your life, heal from your past, and learn to love yourself. Whether you’re a teen or young adult (13-35), I would love to help you experience the joy and freedom you deserve.

Is worry or anxiety disrupting your life? Does it feel like no matter what you try, nothing works? Are you struggling to change habits that only seem to make things worse? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here. Maybe you've resorted to drinking, prescriptions or marijuana to feel some relief. Maybe it's time you got some help. And I know this is hard. You've likely been thinking about seeking help for months, maybe even longer. But I'm so glad you found me and have taken the courageous step of being here.

I'm accepting clients! Feel unloved, outcasted, or struggle with connection? Is expressing your human needs to support systems difficult? Growing up, did you feel overwhelmed by expectations of success? Were you obligated to serve as a caretaker? Do you focus more on others’ happiness and well-being in your current relationships and sacrifice your wants and needs? Are you afraid of abandonment, judgment, rejection, and failure? I can support you in pursuing balance, problem-solving, navigating life transitions, and processing trauma and family wounds (i.e. abuse, divorce, adoption, and sick parents).

Are you feeling stuck despite your efforts to overcome life's challenges? Do you find the same issues resurfacing, hindering your progress? Struggling to set boundaries while maintaining connections in your relationships? Despite your accomplishments, do you feel trapped in old patterns that lead to hurt, frustration, or unhappiness? What may feel like personal shortcomings is often your body’s response to past trauma- a profound intelligence signaling the need for acknowledgment and healing.

I work with a multitude of clients that may be feeling stuck in life, whether it be anxiety or depression, performance issues (athletes), trauma, developmental trauma (that which happens in childhood that one may or may not be aware of specifically). Our brains have been designed to heal. We are able to create new neuropaths for the entirety of our lives. In our work together, we can dismantle current maladaptive patterns and rewire our brains to process in healthy and meaningful ways. I have a history in Christian ministry and I understand the importance of faith; therefore, I am happy to integrate aspects of faith into our work.

Everyone needs some moments to be heard without judgement. I believe therapy can offer that unconditional space for people. All we need to do is to invest time and effort to come to the space to explore the stories inside of us. Nothing is wrong and everything teaches us something. I am here to witness the process and support self-determination within a safe space where the client and I build together. I take insight oriented indirective approach to help clients to find connections to themselves.

I primarily work from a cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based approach, while also incorporating other techniques like play therapy and brainspotting.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
