Whether you are an individual, couple, family, or teen, reach out to me at Center Counseling to schedule a meeting.
[ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS] Do you question the relationship you're in? Do you wonder why conflict sometimes feels so difficult? Does it sometimes feel like there are patterns there that you just can't see or understand, but that maybe if you could, they wouldn't have to continue? Sometimes we reach a point where we are ready for change; where what we have been doing in our life and in our relationships, doesn’t feel good anymore. I will help you get clear on what the patterns are AND where they come from and how to shift them.

If your teen is struggling, don't wait and see if they find a way out.
The teenage years can be really tough on teens AND their parents. Changes happen that can throw their emotions on a rollercoaster -- sadness, worry or anger can take over. Friends can push a teen toward dangerous choices. Add on the stress of high school, early romantic relationships, working towards independence, and there are all sorts of places that a teenager can struggle. It takes a special sort of counselor to work with a teen. Someone who is serious and kind when they struggle, but keeps a sense of humor, wonder and joy that can connect with them past those struggles.

Let's be honest, most of us wouldn't go back to our adolescent years even if someone paid us to do so. Growing up is hard and life throws a lot at children, teens, and young adults. It is not uncommon to feel many conflicting ways about adolescence (and often times many conflicting ways at once). The things we face as we grow up impact our ability to engage, succeed, and feel accepted in our family life, our friend and peer circles, and in our academic sphere. It is my distinct honor to work with adolescents as they navigate some of the toughest years of life.

TEEN THERAPY FOR ANXIETY AND STRESS FOR ATHLETES AND PERFORMERS. You have watched your child grow into a teen with independence and skill. You are their biggest fan. You do all the things because you want them to succeed and most of all you just want them to be happy. But now things have changed for them. There seems to be more pressure. They worry more. They do (or did) love their sport and they are dedicated. But, they have lost the fun. You hurt for your kids struggles. It’s all just too much, and things are out of balance. You feel frustrated and aren’t sure how to help.

**CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS** I believe behavior is communication. Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to understand what a child or teen is communicating. By creating a judgement free space and empowering the client, I aim to engage children, teens, and families in centering themselves, processing their experiences, and advocating for their needs. I also have experience working with families impacted by disabilities and systemic trauma.

I became a therapist to help others find the path not taken. I believe that your growth is an adventure, not a burden. When we approach our lives and loved ones through the lens of discovery, we give ourselves and others permission to be imperfect. We can accept that we may not have the skills we need to have the relationships that we want, and we can strive to learn them. There should be no shame in saying, “I do not know”. Do you know how to comfort yourself when you are disappointed? Do you know how to support someone that is angry or sad? Do you know how to care for your partner when you have hurt them?

My experience over the past 20 years as a spiritual care provider and an addictions counselor influences how I view grief, trauma, and healing. I understand how being human can be a struggle and the experiences through stages of life and other transitions are not always in our control. A compassionate presence has a significant impact to ease the overwhelm and distress that are natural during these times. I trust that as we learn to navigate and unwind traumatic experiences, we will also create new sustainable conditions to live with a greater sense of understanding and wellbeing.

Deciding to see a therapist can be an overwhelming decision, and it can also be a powerful time of exploration, discovery, healing, and growth. Through discovering more fully our story and how our stories came to be, we can attend to that process. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor- Candidate, offering in-person, and telehealth counseling sessions.  I believe counseling to be a collaborative relationship with the client, helping support the client process experiences with a focus on the whole person, connecting mind and body, and developing a deeper understanding of our life experiences in a way to positively grow.

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in Bozeman and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
