In the past five years, have been deeply involved in youth counseling, guiding young individuals through today's complexities, emphasizing resilience and self-worth. When addressing eating disorders, my focus is on the emotional underpinnings, assisting in reconstructing a positive self-image. My approach to depression and anxiety melds cognitive restructuring with mindfulness, aiming for a rediscovery of joy. Using trauma-informed techniques, I support those healing from profound experiences. My work with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is rooted in understanding unique challenges and enhancing social interactions.

It is okay to not be okay, as long as you are willing and ready to invite change and progression into your life. Though, deciding to seek help can be one of the most difficult and most rewarding decisions you will ever make. Be assured that therapy is an individualized journey that empowers you to be honest and open, giving you the willingness to overcome your struggles. My approach to therapy is holistic, inclusive, realistic, and aims to achieve your healing goals based on your own needs and preference. Therefore, I strive to develop a plan that will largely be dependent on your own individuality and what you bring to the session.

As I like to tell my clients, anyone at any stage of their lives can benefit from therapy. Maybe you're experiencing anxiety, depression, or life stress, etc. Therapy helps by having someone to talk with, process the stress, and formulate a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs. Therapy works best as a collaborative process between the therapist and client, working together to achieve a positive and supportive workplace where mental and emotional health can thrive.

Strength is recognizing that you can't do it alone. My main goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, open, and nonjudgmental space that focuses on each individual's life experiences while maintaining the personal beliefs/values of the client to encourage growth and strength. I value the connections my clients create with me as their therapist; creating a connection with your therapist is important to the therapeutic process and will be the driving force of each therapy session. I work with clients collaboratively to explore their thoughts, feelings, hopes, and obstacles to create goals reflecting their desires for therapy.

Being “triggered” can look like irritability, disorganized thinking, distracted, being closed off, moody or sad. Does this sound familiar, but somehow you talk yourself out of getting the help you actually need? It’s hard to prioritize your own health especially when you are so used to putting everyones' needs ahead of yours. By the time you have reached this point, you are in pain and beating yourself up for where you are, stuck in a cycle that leaves you depleted and deeply unhappy or unfulfilled.

Peace. I know how important it is to create a safe space for you to talk about your struggles. Whether the discussion is about your sexuality, especially if you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, your mood, your past including traumatic experiences and upcoming life transitions, therapy and the process of collaborative learning about you is my goal. My work experiences in hospital settings, college counseling settings, community mental health and private practice in both Saudi Arabia and the U.S. have taught me to integrate what I have learned about education, advocacy, and treatment into my therapeutic approach.

Are you a Christian young adult or young professional that is looking for a therapist that understands your faith and can provide you with Holy-Spirit led mental health services? Have you been feeling like your emotions are all over the place, your thoughts tend to be negative and self-critical, and you feel stuck or like life is just too much for you right now? Are you feeling far from God and unsure of where to go from here? You may be feeling alone and need a safe space where you can talk without being judged.

PTSD sucks. It keeps you up at night, makes it hard to relax even on the weekends and drains the happiness out of life. No matter how hard you try you can't help feeling triggered and jumpy. It can make you feel ticked off at the smallest things. You might be withdrawing from others and wanting to shut down because you're losing hope it'll get better. This can lead to depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship problems and more. If it feels like you're going through the motions and barely holding it together, you're in the right place. Helping trauma survivors is my passion.

If you have found my website, chances are you or someone you care about is going through a very challenging time. It may be a time of turmoil, conflict and pain. Psychotherapy involves attending to the concerns you have or issues you are facing in your life. I am here to help, and have worked with many people going through tough times, who have worried that things will not get better. I know that they can. Struggle and conflict, while frightening and painful, can be a hallmark of change.

You’ve been staring at your computer screen for the last hour and have made zero progress. You must have read and reread this report a dozen times, but you’re still not sure what any of it says. For some reason, you just can’t seem to focus on anything lately. Work assignments are late, your home is a mess, and your relationships are falling apart. It’s as though you’re in a downward spiral of chaos with no way to slow your descent. You wish there was some way to regain the control and normalcy you once took for granted. But making any change feels hopeless, and you’re just about ready to give up. There must be some other way.

Making the decision to seek help for one's emotional or relationship difficulties is a courageous decision and one that is not made lightly. Many people who have sought my assistance have shared with me their fear and uncertainty they have felt at first to be sitting with a complete stranger as they begin to share their struggles, pain, and problems. My aim is to offer you a place where you can begin to feel safe, develop trust and share your struggles so that together we may begin to understand them and develop solutions that will help you improve your life.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Dearborn?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
