I am a clinical and developmental psychologist who works with young children, adolescents, and adults. I have special interest in post-partum mothers, anxiety reactions, and personality and identity development through life's transitions (parenting, separation, coping with college, new baby, grief, identity crises, major life events, etc.). I specialize in trauma focused therapy using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Ego State/IFS Therapy. The other counseling approaches I use are from a Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, or Person Centered view. You are unique in your issues and our therapeutic relationship is tailored to you. My approach is a respectful inquiry into my client’s personal issues to envision improved functioning and a future to move towards change. After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1987, I have enjoyed treating hundreds of clients with OCD. I also offer assistance with Hoarding Disorder and am featured as an expert consultant in nearly 33 episodes of the A&E series HOARDERS. I do not treat out-of-state clients, That is, all clients must live in Louisiana.

For the past 5 years, I have counseled children, adolescents, and adults in the New Orleans area. My company, Jacquelyn Walther, LPC-S, NCC, currently does have a wait-list and accepts most insurance including Medicaid. I presently see clients in the afternoons, Monday through Friday and on Saturdays, I see clients throughout the day.
