Accepting New Clients- Walking through the doors is the first and most important step in one’s journey of therapy. I am passionate about helping and supporting you through difficult times. I know that each client is their own person, so I meet each client where they are emotionally and mentally, modifying my treatment approach to best aid each client in achieving their goals.

As a professional, and a parent I truly understand there is no greater joy than seeing your child happy and healthy. I also know there is no greater heartache than seeing your child unhappy. For adults: stress, anxiety, and depression can diminish time with families. For children: poor self-esteem, decreased confidence, bullying/ loss, academic struggles or a disability can impact friendships,family, and academics. I specialize in working with people who have experienced a twist in life that they were not expecting. I have 25 years of treating adults and children who want to reclaim control of their lives.

I know how difficult it can be to take those first steps in seeking out a new therapist. Life can be challenging in many ways and can be difficult navigating alone. I take great care in providing a safe and collaborative environment for my clients to explore their lives and various obstacles in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way. Some of the modalities I use include CBT, DBT, ART, IFS, Psychoanalytic, and Holistic. Building a trusting relationship and witnessing each client's journey is what I find most fulfilling about my work as a therapist.

I understand that it can be difficult to seek help and I strive to create an environment that is safe, where trust has been established so that difficult issues can be discussed. For 20 years I specialized in divorce issues, both in families with high amounts of conflict and custody disagreements and provide support during this difficult transition. In addition, I have a strong background in Attachment, and I specialize in Attachment issues in children and adults and address the various challenges clients face in their current relationships. I use EMDR when appropriate and myriad Neuropsychological interventions.

So often life experiences have been traumatic and contribute to struggles with depression, anxiety and inability to function. I work from a somatic and body centered and psycho-dynamic approaches that meets the needs of teens and women with childhood trauma, addictions, anxiety and eating disorders. My focus is to engage the whole person: mind, body, will, spirit and emotions. My intention is to bring hope, resilience and grace into all difficult life experiences.

With understanding, knowledge, and humor, I assist my clients in identifying what empties them, such as stresses, worries, roadblocks, and other means of "stuck-ness." We also explore what fuels us and fills us, such as change, self-care, acceptance, balance, empowerment, and new beginnings.

An ideal client is someone who is brave enough to want help. I will join you in identifying the areas that need to be strengthened and/or changed. Often people are not aware of a different way of relating, and I offer insight to open up healthier ways of living that bring satisfaction, respect and hope. The most courageous people I know are my clients, and together we find freedom from obstacles and paths to new ways of living.

Through creative exploration and problem solving we develop an engaging and collaborative relationship finding relief as well as strategies to improve the quality and experience of life. Art Therapy focuses on activating inner strengths and abilities through the creative process. Practicing for almost twenty years, Heather works with children, teens and adults on issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, life challenges and changes.
