Hello, my name is Deschion (pronounced De Shawn), I am a daughter of a retired Navy Veteran. I bring 15 years of therapeutic counseling experience. During the session with my client, I am interested on focusing where they are at, working at their pace, acknowledging their emotions and what would they like to accomplish.

I obtained my Masters of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling at Capella University. I have 20+ years of diversified experience in various roles to include program development, client relations and participating with the Mobile Response Team (MRT) servicing adult and children in immediate mental health crisis. As a current Mental Health Clinician, my goals are to provide a safe and private platform to help you understand yourself more deeply and better cope with life’s constant changes, assess clients’ needs and level of functioning and provide Individual and/or family Therapy.

I believe it takes an immense amount of courage for one to ask for help. It is an honour to be trusted to walk beside you on this journey to healing. I provide a therapeutic space filled with peace, compassion and support for my clients. Together, we will work on identifying what is no longer providing purpose in your life whilst creating goals and a plan that works for you to make changes to decrease and possibly eliminate, these emotions and behaviours producing distress currently in your life.

At Anchor Life Clinic, we learn how to focus in ways that open our body up to experiencing freedom, creativity, and spaciousness. During the process of anchoring, we accomplish 4 intentions: 1) Slowing down repetitive thoughts, 2) Weakening the power of repetition, 3) Bringing attention to the present, and 4) Changing our focus to creative functioning. Anchoring creates a purpose that cultivates awareness of change.

Regardless of your ability to pay, I will be happy to work with anyone and everyone on a case-by-case basis so they can get the mental health services they desire. My goal is to empower you with reality based approaches and stress reduction techniques to successfully deal with stressful circumstances and traumatic events.

Ideally, I want the client to be willing to peel back those layers of pain through understanding, believing truly in themselves along with what they are looking to work towards. Painting a better version of themselves and their plans to accomplish it.
