I am passionate about working with adult women and older teen girls that are going through transformative and transitional years of life that are ready to take the next steps to grow through their stories, heighten their self-discovery, and discover their most authentic selves. I believe that is possible by providing a foundation of stability, inclusivity, support, belonging, and safety in our therapeutic relationship. My clinical interests revolve around transitions, anxiety/stress, trauma, relationships, self-esteem, women's issues, and grief/loss.

I have experience working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, substance misuse, teen issues, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.
I am accepting new clients and would love to talk more about how I can help you with whatever challenges you are facing. Life can be tough but having someone who is trained to help you navigate all of life’s twists and turns is invaluable. Whether you are struggling with seemingly small issues or larger life changing issues-if it matters to YOU it matters to ME.

My work is focused primarily on supporting individuals cope with and recover from debilitating anxiety. I am passionate about working with individuals who have been previously hesitant towards or suspicious of therapy (been there!) as well as individuals who are currently in couples therapy and are seeking further individual support. Whether you are anywhere from a teenager with social anxiety to an older adult navigating the stressors of life transitions, it is my goal to hold a space for you to identify what is happening within you as you tell your story and identify pain points along the way.

Accepting Clients: As an EMDR-trained trauma therapist, I help teens, adults, and couples explore pain, expose fear, and experience healing in a real and lasting way. You're probably thinking that something has got to change. You feel stuck, empty, hurt, angry, or just altogether lost in a sea of overwhelming feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. You've been nervous to ask for help, let alone discuss, the difficulties of navigating life and trying to "keep it all together" when things don't feel right at all. It's time to try something new!

I work primarily with men of all ages, teens, and parents of teens. Each client is unique, therefore my approach is individualized for each client. I view issues through the lens of trauma (any event that changes the way you perceive yourself or the world around you). People are resilient and adapt, but often form maladaptive coping strategies in efforts to meet real and legitimate needs. A part of the counseling process is identifying the barriers that are keeping you stuck in order to move forward in a healthier way! I look forward to talking with you as you begin your journey! I provide free 20-30 minute phone consultations.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
