I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor. I'm a trained Cognitive Behavioral Therapist; but I use a variety of approaches depending on my client's needs. I have been in private practice for 9 years. Prior to private practice I worked at Family Service League in Bayshore with all populations. I also worked at Stony Brook University Hospital on the Child Psychiatry Unit working with children from 4-13 years old. I currently work at Stony Brook University and had previously worked at The Juilliard School.
My specialty is working with depression, anxiety, disorganization in life and work as well as motivation and career changes. The modalities I use are; CBT, strength based, positive psychology, creating positive energy, spirituality, gratitude, moving away from anxious and negative thoughts to assist my clients in manifesting their best selves.
I have worked in higher education for 30 years. I assist students with choosing a major, selecting appropriate courses, fulfilling graduation requirements, finding and applying for appropriate graduate programs and working on career paths.
I am currently working with Beth Miller, LCSW, training in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Tapping.
