When meeting with kids for session, I use play therapy strategies, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Adlerian theory, and Trust Based Relational Intervention strategies.
Kids face all sorts of pressures, choices, challenges, and traumas in our culture today that affect the way they connect and engage with their worlds around them. It can look like anxiety, depression, behavioral acting out, emotional walling-off, etc. I work with children and families to investigate and discover what's needed to repair and rebuild the damaged or broken pieces that affect kids day to day. As a parent, you're hoping for ways to help understand what your child is going through and learn more effective ways of supporting them through the hard places so that your family can find its sense of peace, love, and connection.

I utilize Adlerian and CBT theories to help break down how we perceive ourselves, and collaborate on ways to build up confidence, esteem, and self-love.
“I can’t calm my mind down and my thoughts keep spinning.” “I just don’t see the point in trying, nothing ever gets better.” “I’m broken, I’ll never be fixed.” “I don’t know how I’m going to keep going.” If these sound like thoughts you've had, I'm here to help.

Welcome! I am a LPCC that specializes in work with children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a wide array of concerns related to relationships, emotional regulation or life transitions. For many, seeking out counseling can be a scary and intimidating first step towards change. As a counselor, my first goal is to create a trusting, therapeutic relationship in the counseling room, and to use this relationship as an agent for change. In session, I'll help uncover patterns in your life that no longer serve you and help you find new ways of being in the world.

Are you tired of being exhausted with worry, depression and lack of direction? Maybe you've made mistakes that are leaving you bogged down by self-defeat, doubt? And as a result, are you fed up? Like you just can't take another minute of it. If either of these is true, you are our specialty. We thrive working with families (and anyone else) suffering with self-destructive behaviors, anxiety, addictions, trauma, grief or loss. After working with us, people usually begin to embrace their shortcomings and rediscover their dreams.

Life can be difficult. Dealing with the stressors of school, work, parenting, and traumatic events can make you feel like you are drowning. Add to that the many beliefs out there that tell us we are not good enough and it leads down a dark path. There is hope. If you are struggling with guilt and hopelessness of not being good enough, or the constant overwhelming feelings of losing your mind, you are not alone. You do not need to turn to things that only temporarily make you feel "ok." You are enough and we can work together to overcome those obstacles. You deserve more. Change your mind. You deserve to thrive.

Adlerian Therapists
How does Adlerian psychology work?
In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.
Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?
Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.
How long does Adlerian therapy take?
Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.
Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?
There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
