Adina Morguelan Ascher
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LCSW, PhD
I believe that the therapy process is a practice of paying attention to what is actually happening - it sounds simple, but this is actually a deeply profound and challenging stance to maintain towards life. The work we do in therapy involves bringing elements of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, how we relate to ourselves and to others, and how we move through the world, from the darkness of the unconscious into the light of consciousness where we can take a look at them. We do not have to struggle and toil in order to implement change in our lives.
When we simply notice what is actually happening, we begin to see more clearly the effect that our patterns of thoughts, feelings, and interactions have on the results we get. It is this shift in consciousness that sets in motion the change process in all areas of our lives.
I provide confidential and non-judgmental consultations, referrals, and professional psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups; deliver substance ab/use assessment and treatment; and address a broad range of client concerns and multiple diagnoses including: anxiety, depression, isolation, stress, grief, and creative/spiritual blocks.
