I also specialize in working with creative, high-intensity, highly sensitive people, including those with aspects of ADHD, giftedness, neurodivergence, and other frameworks for understanding these constellations of traits.
Lets face it: uncertainty can be really uncomfortable. Chronic stress and isolation can deplete your energy, diffuse your attention, and blunt your experience. Outdated stories about who you’ve been or think you should be can make it tough to envision what you truly desire. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself, from others, or from your life’s purpose. I can help you navigate this unmapped terrain, process losses, reimagine identities, and align with your most meaningful goals. I’ll work with you to create empowering new narratives that can reconnect you with your own sense of aliveness during these disorienting times.

I work with teens and adults who identify as quirky/nerdy, highly-intelligent, introverted, highly-sensitive, or as having ADHD or Autism (or some combination of these). Those with these traits often share something: a sense of outsider-ship, of not quite belonging. This can lead to loneliness, shame, isolation, depressions, self-loathing--all that fun stuff.  I, myself, have 3 or 4 of the above traits, AND was homeschooled on top of it, so my own sense of outsider-ship was crowned with awkward homeschooler social skills :) Working, both on self-acceptance, and feeling like I belong, is something I enjoy sharing with my clients.

I have been privileged to care about and help clients for nearly 30 years. I work to understand their particular pain and identify their patterns. Together, we honor those patterns for the benefits they provide and experiment with updating them to allow for conscious choice and a better fit to current circumstances and opportunities. Often, traumatic experiences have shaped the patterns they chose, and clients will again need to choose how to respond to the traumatic material and its reverberations. Clients may additionally be impacted by chronic illness, mood disorders/Bipolar, attentional issues/ADHD, grief and loss.

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for a Seattle ADHD therapist, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counseling in Seattle.
