I have extensive experience with people who suffer depression, anxiety, ADHD and difficulty adjusting to new life circumstances.
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed? Depressed? sometimes even at the same time? Today’s world is sometimes complex and confusing. Are your own wants, needs and feelings striving to make it work within: a family? a job? a relationship? Maybe you are just trying to hold your own and make it to the next day. You don’t have to go it alone. I can help you put things into perspective and provide strategies to deal with the day to day. You are not "just a number" to me. I deliberately maintain a small practice to enable me to remain available. and connected to my clients.

If you are also AuDHD/ADHD, then it becomes more complex.
We help relationships thrive by healing the hurt that is in the way, so you can enjoy closeness, love, and joyful moments with your family and friends. Hurt, Trauma, and PTSD, can cause instability, outbursts, misunderstandings, confusion, mistrust, anxiety, panic attacks, fears, intimacy issues, and intrusive thoughts. Hurt, Trauma, and PTSD are successive, treatable, and preventable stages. If trauma has been holding you back from your dreams, we can help you achieve them. If trauma has caused issues in any relationships, we can help you mend them. We can also help you improve the relationship with yourself and your inner world :)

We all encounter wounds from different phases of life, relationships and traumas. However, we aren’t always taught the tools that offer us resolution and healing. We are conditioned to be victimized by this pain rather than transforming it for a greater purpose. I believe when we integrate using our gifts towards life’s challenges and fully embrace the darkness within us, we can use it to our advantage, turning our pain into purpose.

Our beliefs and assumptions about the world inform our feelings, which in turn, influences our behavior. Many of those assumptions however are not entirely our own, or even in our conscious awareness. They come from our parents, communities, traumatic experiences, or a less developed version of ourself. Living a life that does not reflect our authentic values often results in inner conflict that negatively spills outward into our intimate, familial, and professional relationships. Taking time to explore what thoughts and values belong to our authentic selves, is one of the most important gifts an individual can give to themselves.

I work primarily with adolescents, children, and young adults who have had very difficult experiences and need a safe, playful, and steady partner to explore the impact of these events on their lives. As an out queer clinician I also work regularly with LGBTQIA+ clients who seek a therapist aware of the complexity of those identities in the world, as well as with parents looking to better develop skills to support trans or queer-identified children. I recognize racism and white supremacy as forms of social oppression that provoke traumatic responses and work accordingly with clients who have been harmed by these systems.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
