Across the span of child and adolescent development, every individual has a unique personal story and strengths that shine through, even in the face of challenge. I work with individuals from preschool through college and beyond, but my expertise is in early childhood and elementary-age development. With specialized experience and training in working with neurodiverse learners, including those with ADHD and autism, as well as gender-diverse individuals, I integrate evidence-based approaches to empower individuals and families with information, tools, and strategies to facilitate positive adjustment and wellbeing.

Living with ADHD is challenging. My ADHD clients struggle with time management, planning, getting started with and completing projects, creating reasonable morning and evening routines, and impulsivity. If you feel that you are constantly spinning your wheels without getting any traction working with a coach will help you get unstuck. As an ADHD coach I can help my clients manage the symptoms of ADHD, set specific goals and support them as they move toward acheiving those goals. I work with clients as part of their health care team.

Living with ADHD is exhausting: you have to mask around others in order to appear "normal". You may beat yourself up because of it, causing low self-esteem. Sometimes, it can cause you to have a hard time focusing with the tasks you have to get done. Conflicts occur between you and your loved ones as a result of your executive dysfunction. You are not alone. Like many of us, you’re probably someone who has made valiant efforts to change your life, but because of you being wired differently, it can be hard to do so.

Focus areas include: Grief Following Adult ADHD Diagnosis & addressing symptoms of Codependency.
Navigating the world can be tough when you consistently try to please others,  have difficulty making decisions, or fear speaking your mind. I work with individuals who are  often marginalized, and exhausted by their unhealthy relationships  with self and others. Often when we attempt to live differently, negative emotions will kick in that cause us to cling to our old ways. I know all too well how difficult it is to feel overwhelmed or trapped by your circumstances. Together we'll push back on negative self talk, poor boundaries, self sabotage, and other unhelpful patterns that may be limiting life choices.

Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Relationships, and Major Life Changes can easily interfere and overwhelm us when we are least expecting it. It is never too soon or too late to seek help through therapy. Effective therapy is a dynamic, at times challenging, and ultimately rewarding process. It is a safe environment to think, express, and achieve growth without judgment or discrimination.

Welcome! For 15 years I have developed a specialty in work with adults and children with depression, anxiety, ADHD and related executive functioning issues. I deeply believe that there is no one way to raise a child or to exist in the world as an adult. My work is patient, empathic and kind. My work children always involves active participation from the caregivers in their lives. My treatment style relies on a strengths perspective to determine the unique strengths and needs of each family but I draw from CBT and PCIT when appropriate as well. If indicated, I can provide executive functioning coaching in addition to psychotherapy.

ADHD is a complex neurobiological condition, often inherited, that can wreak havoc on a person's learning, behavior, self-esteem, career and relationships.
Do you -- or someone you love-- have trouble staying focused, keeping track of things, being on time or managing interruptions? If you're concerned about a youngster, is s/he smart but getting mediocre grades? Does s/he daydream, take too long to complete homework, forget things frequently? Does s/he blurt out answers precipitously? Or leap before s/he looks? These are problems everyone has at times, but if these things have been happening for a long time, happen very often and are severe enough to impair a person's natural ability to function, it could be ADHD.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
