Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. It teaches the brain to improve attention, mood, behavior, cognition, and more. In simple terms, neurofeedback is positive reinforcement for the brain. We measure brain activity and teach the brain to make healthier patterns. Once these healthier brain patterns are learned the effects of neurofeedback tend to hold. Neurofeedback initiates self-regulation and enhances relaxation and cognition, all necessary components of optimal brain function. Neurofeedback can work on anyone, no matter the age. We treat a variety of conditions including ADHD, anxiety, brain injury, depression, insomnia, migraines, and more!

I focus on helping navigate the wild twists and turns of life, whether it's healing the caverns of complex trauma, revisiting childhood shenanigans, or riding the ADHD rollercoaster of executive dysfunction. We will use a variety of tools on our journey, including ACT, DBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and Imagery Rehearsal Therapy. Don't worry, though – I promise to keep the jargon to a minimum and sprinkle in a healthy dose of humor along the way.

I have experience working with different diagnoses but I specialize in mood disorders, ADHD, and family/relationship conflict.
Sometimes life can feel like a rollercoaster as we go through ups and downs. During these times it can be difficult to reach out for help as intrusive thoughts lead us to feel alone, anxious, sad, or afraid. We will work together to explore these thoughts and feelings as well as set and climb towards goals at your pace.

I specialize in providing neurodiverse-affirming therapy. What does this mean? It means that my therapeutic approach is to help you embrace your differences while still trying to navigate a neurotypical world and expectations. Usually, the clients I see in my practice are adults who have trouble navigating life transitions and are usually on the spectrum of ADHD, Autism, OCD, Anxiety, and/or Depression. I don’t believe people necessarily fit in a neat little box that is labeled with a mental health diagnosis. I don’t believe that a diagnosis should be a means to an end for treatment. There’s no one size fits all treatment.

We are trained and experienced in multiple specialty areas, including finances, life transitions, trauma, school related issues, immigration, family work, and adults with ADHD.
I am the owner of a group practice. We are accepting new clients. I have limited spots. There are times in life when everyone needs a little help. You might be dealing with grief, such as losing a family member or a beloved pet. You may be struggling with daily problems like past trauma, financial difficulties, or issues focusing. We help individuals feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or want to feel differently. With a supportive relationship and a safe space to share these things this process can allow the time for you to start to enjoy life, feel more confident, and recognize yourself again.

It can be challenging to find a therapist that you can connect with and confide in. I became a therapist to help adolescents, teens, and adults navigate life’s many demands. I routinely counsel individuals and groups struggling with various degrees of depression, anxiety, phobias, lack of motivation, ADHD, and bereavement. I also help couples overcome marital problems as they struggle to improve their relationships. Life’s challenges can be daunting. Together we can build on your strengths and provide a safe and supportive environment to enable you to reach your goals.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
