My focus is developing a relationship with my clients that becomes the foundation for transformation. My work is guided by the belief that much in life is related to the core need of knowing and being known. After addressing physical needs & causes, I often lean into the idea that our thoughts are part of what cause our feelings and behaviors. If we are able to change the way we think about the world, we will be able to change the way we feel and act. Most importantly, having someone who cares walk along side you can make all the difference in the world. Change isn't easy, but seeking help means you don't have to do it alone.

I value the counseling setting as a place to discuss all thoughts and feelings freely and without fear of judgment so that new associations can be made, and emotional isolation can be replaced with connection. When we understand and accept ourselves, growth and healing can occur! I create a safe space where individuals can first understand how their personal experiences have impacted their lives and then collaborate with clients in order to establish authentic insights that will shape their stories moving forward.

Sometimes, even when we know that something is wrong, we still need guidance in order to disentangle the problems that cause us suffering. Every problem has a solution and every difficult period can have a peaceful resolution. My therapeutic approach primarily stems from Family Systems Theory. I focus on emotional independence through individuation and help individuals, couples and families gain additional growth, strengths, and insights into their lives. I work on reducing negative communication patterns and installing love as an attachment bond.

I work with those who are courageously facing pain and trauma in their lives. Perhaps you wonder if you can look at your own experiences... Maybe you fear being overwhelmed if you dare look. You may be thinking anxiety will overwhelm you. It need not be this way. Allow me to journey with you as you explore the questions tugging at you. You need not face them alone. Support is here; it is real. You CAN face these challenges, and you need not face them alone in the silence of your heart. Reach out now for the support you deserve.

When working with individuals, I aim to help them through a collaborative process to understand the underlying issues that are causing them to not live up to their potential. The model which I employ assumes that many of our struggles are connected to conflicts within us of which we are not completely aware. I feel that therapy is most effective when the entire person's personality and history are considered instead of just focusing on current problematic behaviors. My work focuses on recognizing long standing relationship patterns that are troublesome as well as developing a more emotionally stable and adaptive personality.

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out for support. I know it's not easy. I’d love to connect with you to help you learn to manage your emotions and identify coping skills that work for you. I’m an unbiased space that gives your room to explore, process emotions and challenges. Together we can figure out what’s not working and what can help you feel better. I want to see you improve and help you feel like yourself again. I treat therapy as a conversation and discussion regarding your anxieties, worries, stress and other topics. This can help to untangle, reorganize and make sense of your thoughts.

There's this lingering sense of negativity, self-doubt, and not being good enough. Stress is accumulating and the demands you're facing are outweighing your resources. Your drive to reach goals, connect with others, and enjoy life is declining. You notice that same cycle of perfectionism, anxiety, and shame repeating itself, causing you to feel trapped, overwhelmed, and powerless. It's not just affecting your mind. It's also taking a toll on your body and your relationships. Avoid the burnout. Make a choice to make a change.

Greetings! Welcome and thank you for considering me as your therapist. It is said that the reason two antelope walk side by side is to blow the dust from each other's eyes (African proverb). In today's world, it seems harder than ever to find clarity in the midst of chaos. Living with unaddressed chaos and unresolved pain can leave us feeling stuck and disconnected from those who love us and who may be able to help us. Sometimes, due to life circumstances, we struggle to find our way back to ourselves, our family and our God.

I know that life can sometimes be a whirlwind especially when we don’t have enough time to reflect and process. Without setting aside intentional time, life’s challenges can feel like chaos. Maybe you looked up and realized that you haven’t done things for yourself in a while. Being swept up in life’s whirlwind can distract from the realization that you aren’t doing things that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Using evidence-based techniques, I will help you look for patterns in your thinking or actions that may be causing problems, often rooted in trauma. I will help you establish healthier relationships, develop better coping skills, set boundaries and aid your ability to connect to your body & emotions while learning to regulate them effectively. Using a warm, genuine and goal-focused approach, you can be assured that whatever issue you have come to therapy to address, I will work to gently, but firmly encourage you to help resolve it. If you’ve been longing to develop a deeper sense of self-understanding in the context of a more longterm, intimate therapeutic relationship—one in which you are free and encouraged to be your authentic self, we may very well be a good fit. I’m certified in existential-humanistic therapy from the Existential-Humanistic Institute in California, and while I do incorporate other modalities of therapy, I take a predominantly philosophical approach, focusing on the human condition. Along with creativity, I’m deeply interested in spirituality and have spent extended periods of time practicing mindfulness in Buddhist monastery settings.

Have you ever asked yourself, "Is this it? Is this all there is for the rest of my life? What about me? This is not what I thought my life would look like at this point. I want more! But how do I get it? I'm not even sure what 'more' means, but I know something is missing in my life. I just want to feel fulfilled." If you are nodding along with this, you are not alone. Nearly every woman, whether she's 22 or 52, is saying the same thing: "I want more out of my life!"

Are you experiencing moments of change? Is this a time in your life when that change is bringing to the foreground feelings of anxiety, depression or grief? Life can get really overwhelming at times. Those times can sometimes make us feel powerless and out of control. You do not have to struggle alone. I believe times of loss and change can bring about self-awareness and healing. And that change is an opportunity to cultivate compassion and loving kindness towards ourselves and others.

I am here for you as you are right now. I can imagine that right now things may not be the way you want them. Do you find yourself feeling unsettled? Feeling stuck and just can't seem to make important changes? Find that powerful emotions keep taking you off track from what you truly want? Have you had painful events occur and have noticed you're not quite the same anymore? ... For 10+ years I've been helping people build a life full of meaning. Which often means figuring out how to make important changes while also finding acceptance. This can mean resolving past painful events, boosting skills and/or resolving current problems.

Not accepting new clients
It is tough when you get stuck in a cycle of using unhealthy coping tools to make it through the day. It can feel challenging and scary to face what is there. You may feel lost and have forgotten or lost track of what you want from life. You may be looking for motivation, fulfillment, a way forward, and effective ways to get through life’s challenges. With all of the things you have to do, it can make it difficult to make you a priority. I would be honored to help you find your way forward. My overall approach is to help clients accept what they cannot control while working toward building a life that reflects their values.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Saint Louis?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
