Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief/loss, trauma, chronic medical issues or any of the other issues that frequently plague our community? Is it that you can't put a finger on it, but just know something isn't right.
Greetings! My name is Victoria Rivera and I am a psychotherapist at Revo Well. We are a tribe of extraordinary clinicians dedicated to REVOlutionizing WELLness in the BIPOC community. As a therapist, providing a safe space and offering sound clinical services to members of the community of color is of the utmost importance to me. My involvement stems from working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, autism, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, trauma, issues of power/privilege/oppression, grief, developmental concerns, social skills, and ADHD.
My focus within therapy is to connect to each client through a client-centered, mindfulness, and strengths-based approach. My own strength of authenticity will help to build solid therapeutic relationships between you and your family. I am glad you are here and taking this first step towards the goals you have for yourself. I believe that creating a safe, supportive, open environment can allow my clients the opportunity to move toward healing. I incorporate body work and mindfulness as methods for healing for growth. We all have parts of us that keep us stuck in seasons of life and it is my honor to walk with you to process and examine new strategies to decrease negative symptoms and increase wholeness and health. We can develop patterns in our lives, some learned, some given, and pausing to examine them and develop new strategies is vital to growth and change.

Some of the diagnosis I work with are grief, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Relationship/Family Concerns, ADHD, Self-Esteem, Self-Esteem, Body Image, and young adults who are transitioning into the world of adulthood.
I am so glad that you are here. Taking the steps toward healing is no easy task, so if no one has said it, I am so proud of you. Society spends so much time trying to tell us who we are and what we need to be that sometimes we forget who we are and what we are worth. The hardest part of the therapeutic process is showing up. Healing can be complicated and scary at times. However, through this process, I hope you discover all the beautiful qualities that make you exceptional.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
