I offer a pragmatic approach to the treatment of a broad spectrum of psychological & relational difficulties. People that consult me are contending with negative narratives and harmful stress. I draw from various psychotherapeutic interventions geared to promote healthy emotional experiences that leads to deep and lasting change. My areas of interest include character development, life enrichment, & helping people adapt & heal from experiences of addiction, loneliness, trauma & grief & their impact on one's well-being.
My obligation is learn what helps people to do hard things & support them in their work to initiate & sustain those efforts. I believe the aim of therapy is to encourage people be fully engaged in life, to endure, cope, & perform better at the things that matter most to them, and to not be at the mercy of one's thoughts, feelings, behaviors or circumstances.
In addition to operating a private practice, I am on staff at MGH. I am a senior psychotherapist, addiction consultant, & the co-director of the Recovery & Relationship Enhancement Program. I provide therapy for individual, groups, couples, & families as well as teach & supervise in the Center for Group Psychotherapy & Interpersonal Psychotherapy Program.

Real talk, real times, real connection. We routinely succumb to the daily grind which impinges on our emotional availability. This group can provide an environment for meaningful and vitalizing contact as we strengthen this capacity to be engaged more fully in life. We also explore deeper longings that are often expressed through problematic behaviors. Often our best attempts to cope with these feelings often can leave someone feeling more disconnected from themselves and others. In this group together we will enhance our understanding of this pattern, restore our ability for self regulation, and implement effective ways of giving and getting in relationships.

This group is for men who seek to explore the increasingly complex challenges of being men. It is essential that men be more flexible, communicative, and nurturing. Often these roles carry with them contradictory demands, so there is growing interest to come together to share experiences and be a resource for each other as we strive to live up to important changes in men's identity in contemporary life. Issues pertaining to career, dating and romantic relationships, fatherhood, health/stress management, divorce, substance use, and significant life transitions are examined with the aim of cultivating self-knowledge, sound decision-making, emotionally stability, and interpersonal growth.
