The Nurtured Heart Approach is my go to strategy for parents struggling with children with ADHD and other intense behaviors.
Are you struggling with the pressures of life? Do you have strong, over whelming emotions that seem to come from out of nowhere? Do you feel angry, or irritable, most of the time and don’t know why? Perhaps you don’t feel anything at all, and wish there was more to life than what you are experiencing now. Perhaps you already have a mental health diagnosis or another diagnosis of infertility or cancer or are struggling with a chronic illness. Are you part of the military, or a military family member, and are struggling with all that comes with that role including traumatic experiences, secondary trauma, and stress from many moves?

The approach I offer is trauma-informed, where I utilize information about what is going on within your environment, body, mind, & brain, as well as interventions that address trauma/PTSD as it masquerades as a wide variety of conditions (depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc.
Are you searching for inclusive mental health services that aim to address the root of your presenting symptoms whilst taking into account social and systemic factors? Maybe you feel that the providers you've seen thus far haven't been effective in helping you reach your goals of improving your overall well-being. I specialize in working with clients with a systems-based approach in order to not only provide a safe and inclusive environment but also to help you reach your goals through collaboration.

He was a lead investigator for treatments for depression, mood disorders anxiety and sleep disorders, ADHD, and addictions.
Bill has a very straightforward and matter-of-fact approach to psychotherapy and counseling. He describes his approach as "change oriented", believing the client's inherent strengths provide the keys to growth and recovery. Bill recognized the profound role the family plays in mental health. Bill finds working with families especially rewarding. Much of that works includes couple and marriage counseling and youth.

I've also had to become familiar with navigating the terrain of ADHD.
I am extraordinarily passionate when assisting individuals with developing minds, and/or those who feel stagnate, to overcome obstacles in finding success. Throughout my 20-year career I've dealt with a wide range of people, all carrying a vast array of diagnosis and/or addictions, in a variety of settings. I work with folks ages 12 and up, specializing with adolescents and dual diagnosis (co-occurring addiction and mental heath issues). The therapeutic process can foster growth, garner insight, provide validation, and assist with emotional regulation, leading to better self-reflection, which is something we should all subscribe to.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
