My current focus is on the assessment of childhood disorders, mainly ADHD and autism.
Is your child facing challenges in school? Are they having trouble concentrating? Suspecting a learning disability? If you or your child is struggling with social, behavioral, emotional, or academic issues, I'm here to assist! Take a proactive approach rather than reacting to a problem that can be addressed if identified early. Evaluations provide valuable insights for treatment, enabling other professionals to make informed decisions for your well-being. Knowledge is empowering! I provide thorough assessments of psychological disorders with a focus on learning disorders, intellectual disability, autism, and ADHD.

I perceive psychotherapy as a process of teamwork, sharing of power, and ensuring that clients have a sense of hope. There is no single way to live one's life and, as a clinician, I respect when my patients believe they are sufficiently on track. I also offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. These evaluations are commonly used to detect dementia, adult ADHD, learning disorders, and is used to support diagnosis such as Alzheimer's disease and Traumatic Brain Injury. At my practice, we offer comprehensive, personalized programs to help you build a stronger future and sustain it.

We offer psychiatry, therapy and wellness consult for those suffering from: Depression, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, Insomnia, Personality disorders, Bipolar, Trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, and more.
Finding the right psychiatrist or psychologist can be a daunting task. It is because of this that AMPs philosophy is Finding your balance. What does this mean? It means we take the time to look at our patients from a holistic point of view, and realize they have a life outside the walls of our office. They are not only patients, but mothers, fathers...there are whole humans behind the names of the patients we see, and because of that we take the time to get to know you in order to find the right balance of treatment for you.

I work with children and adolescents with a wide array of developmental disabilities and disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and other neurological conditions.
I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who began my career volunteering in the Child Life department at Miami Children's Hospital, in 2007. It was there that I first developed a passion for helping children. I later discovered the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and loved that I could make a difference in the lives of others through the application of science. I provide ABA therapy where the behaviors are most likely to occur: in the home, at school, and in the community.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
