My areas of focus include: the LGBTQ+ community, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, complex trauma, relationships (with self & others), and people pleasing.
I believe everyone is capable of living their fullest, most vibrant life and it is my passion to help them achieve it. I help clients foster insight by processing their past experiences and gently uncovering the ways their pasts connect with their current struggles. I teach clients to discover the patterns and rules that keep them stuck and then support them in cultivating a life that brings them joy and fulfillment. I invite my clients on a journey of self-compassion and teach them how to prioritize gentleness and self-care. I believe therapy can be silly and even fun while still being impactful and effective.

We all have challenges as well as strengths in our lives. I support my client as they work through difficulties that may involve diagnosis such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, anxiety and relationship issues. My approach involves psycho-education regarding evidence based coping skills, helping the client recognize emotions that may be creating distress and learning how to make meaningful changes in their behaviors, thoughts and their ability to emotionally regulate.

I have strong strategies for managing ADHD and other learning disabilities, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, work-life-balance, and goal completion.
I believe in meeting my clients where they are. My priority is creating a safe space where authentic and vulnerable collaboration can nurture positive change. I believe that while all individuals possess the ability to be healthy and happy, sometimes life events, obstacles or unhealthy patterns cause us to lose confidence in our ability to achieve our goals. The right support can elevate hope and get us back on track.

If you’ve ever found yourself in a dark place, then you know that you instinctually look for the light. Things happen in our lives that throw us into dark places. It’s easy to get stuck in these places and we can have trouble finding a way out by ourselves. However, we all have the potential to restore and brighten our light again, sometimes we just need a helping hand. We will be that helping hand. Whether your darkness is anxiety, sadness, trauma, low self-esteem, body image issues, ADHD, or relationship dissatisfaction, we will climb into that dark place with you so that you’re not looking for that light alone.

Research indicates that the most important factor in psychotherapy may be the alliance between client and therapist. It makes sense that any individual, couple or family would reflect heavily on this aspect of their search. Initial consultations are about providing a uniquely safe, private space for the client(s) to share thoughts, questions, feelings or concerns. Specialization in ADHD, symptoms related to individuals and couples, as well as its impact on work/life balance, sex/uality, friends & family members, as well as co-occurring disorders.

Life can bring about many obstacles - whether stressors or a medical condition - and a therapist can facilitate change or healing. Through psychotherapy, we can journey towards growth and peace, to improve your adjustment to an illness or stressor, anxiety, depression, trauma, or a spiritual crisis. If you have cognitive difficulties, we can develop cognitive rehabilitation and executive skills to strengthen your mental abilities to engage in home and work. At times, neurological injury brings behavioral changes. We can jointly develop a behavioral plan to manage behaviors to improve relationships and ensure safety.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
