I believe getting this far is half the battle. The rest of the journey will be in what we discover together. So congratulations on valuing your own personal growth. If you find yourself in a fog of emotions that you can't get out of, we can work together to figure out a better path. I have extensive experience working with adults, teens, and families in various settings. No matter what point you are in life, you can work toward a better sense of self and build towards improved insight and empathy towards yourself, others, and your environment.

As a person of color born and raised in the Bay Area, I truly believe in my task and role as a therapist to reach those who feel as though their story is unheard and invalidated by the world we currently live in. My strengths as a therapist consist of gaining over nine years of experience working in the field of mental health as a mental health clinician under the non-profit realm and private practice within Santa Clara County. Over the course of my experience I have built skills in providing therapy to socioeconomically diverse families, children, individuals, couples, and those who identify with the LGBTQIA population.

First, I want to honor and acknowledge your courage in seeking therapy. I believe that all individuals have the ability to seek growth, connect to their values, and are generally trying to do their best with the cards that life has dealt them. My hope as a therapist is that I can provide you with an authentic and safe connection that provides a space for you to tap into your ability to heal. In therapy I will work as your ally from a non judgmental stance and respect your own individual sense of agency.

Are you currently experiencing challenges in your life? We all have them, and some we are faced with can feel pretty big, and we don't have to face them alone. When these challenges prevent you from functioning in important areas of your life, and leave you feeling as life is just passing you by, reaching out for help is one of the most courageous things you can do. Much of my experience is working with adolescents, families, and individuals, who experience everything from relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and stress, to name a few. I have worked in Outpatient community settings, schools, homes, and telehealth.

We tend to build shields to protect from uncomfortable and distressing thoughts and emotions because we're not taught how to manage or experience them without the feeling of drowning. Avoidance of, numbing, or collapsing into emotional storms can keep us stuck in unhelpful cycles and disconnect us from a life of vitality. It can feel impossible to get out of these cycles when our thoughts try to convince us that we're broken, stuck, or not good enough, especially when we're trying to do it alone. Sharing our struggles with someone else can help us learn to look at (instead of from) them, and then be able to see how to get unstuck.

I became a therapist after working for many years in business and finance. I was fortunate to then complete a master's and subsequently a doctoral program in Psychology. This professional and academic experience supports the therapy I've been providing for over a decade. By connecting academic theories with my clients' real-life situations and an empathic and thoughtful style, I seek to help clients understand themselves better while supporting their movement forward in positive directions.

We are a team of humanistic therapists and associates. We offer Holistic Psychotherapy, which means that we focus on trusting and following the guidance of the body, mind and soul towards healing. We believe that your symptoms and inner signals are not something to go to war with, but rather they can be a compass to track where there is emotional pain at its root. We will invite you to become more familiar with your body sensations through mindfulness and help you embody a process of healing and completion.

Hi there! I’m Tomasine (Tom-uh-seen). I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker currently offering individual sessions under the supervision of Lisa Neves. I work with children over five, teens, and adults of all ages. I am comfortable utilizing a variety of modalities and tailor my approach to each individual client. In my experience, the greatest successes come from collaboration and an open dialogue where clients tell me if they do or do not like something we try together. My goal is for each one of my clients to feel comfortable expressing themselves and feel supported being their most authentic selves in our sessions.

It takes a lot of courage to take that step forward and seek help. At some point, the pain of staying where you are can become overwhelming, and you're ready for something to change. You are not alone! I will work to hold a safe space for you and walk beside you as we explore both your strengths and your long-standing behavior and thought patterns that have supported you in the past but maybe aren't serving you anymore.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Campbell?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
