Adele Brookman
Marriage & Family Therapist, MS, LMFT
I am Adele Brookman, a psychotherapist in private practice in San Francisco. My holistic practice emphasizes nurturing self-care. My work concentrates on helping people change ingrained, self-defeating patterns and replace them with new, healthier ways of meeting needs and aspirations. My work combines depth, problem solving and humor to help turn insights into tangible change.
In addition to working with individuals and couples in brief and in-depth therapy, I have led creative arts therapy workshops and groups on the East Coast and in California for 30 years. My client base is diverse, multicultural, and multigenerational.
Beyond meeting immediate emotional needs, the therapeutic goal is to help people find self-awareness and develop or recover energy, a sense of potential, and hope. The experience of a rich, warm therapeutic relationship fosters my client's positive relationship with themselves and others.
Issues commonly worked on are: transitions (adjustment to life-changes and situations), self-esteem, relationships, body image, stress, anxiety, phobias, panic, long-term low grade depression or sadness, compulsive care taking, compulsive shopping, Perfectionism, work satisfaction, as well as grief and loss.
