Addy's Colors is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides free mental health therapy to children with chronic illness, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and traumatic grief. Each child (with the support of the family) creates goals together as a collaborative team. We believe that parents know their children better than we ever will, and the child knows the solutions and needs but needs help expressing them. We work alongside doctors, schools, and other organizations with the help of our care coordinator as well. We are here with compassion and understanding.
We utilize play therapy and animal assisted therapy as well. Play is how children communicate! It's important that they can tell their story with some distance, showing us through art, play, and sand how they are feeling inside. We also have therapy bunnies and a therapy dog to help them feel more comfortable. In addition, we offer Safe and Sound Protocol.
We want children to feel welcome and excited to come to therapy. We utilize play spaces with regulation items so that children can feel comfortable. We celebrate children for their authentic self, helping them to feel empowered and free to be themselves. It is our mission that children feel understood and cared about on each part of their journey.
