I have over 25 years counseling experience as both a mental health and substance abuse counselor. Some of those years were as a Psychiatric Medic in the military, including the Gulf War. I am committed to counseling those who are struggling with life adversities, trials and tribulations who are suffering from mood disorders, anxiety, grief, stress, substance abuse, relationship issues, and issues concerning parents of LGBT children, as well as other life stressors or disorders. I counsel mostly adults from ages 18 to 64. I use the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary approach to conduct therapy.

I am a fluent bilingual Counselor (EN/SP) capable of helping those challenged by addiction issues to address or recover from them while also managing your relationships with friends, families, and loved ones.

As a first-generation Mexican-American, I am sensitive to the multi-cultural needs of my clients. I am fluent in Spanish and English and able to effectively provide therapy in the language in which the individual is most comfortable, in doing so, their goals have a higher probability of being achieved. My clinical experience has provided me with the abilities to work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues related to trauma, depression, stress management, grief, parental support, and substance use.

I'm about love, self-compassion, radical acceptance, embracing failure, trusting your innate wisdom and starting over. I fundamentally believe in every person's ability to recover from trauma, addiction and life, in general. Experience has taught me that no one is really avoiding anything. When people accuse you of not dealing with something, what they are really saying is you aren't dealing with it the way they want you to. From my perspective, if you wake up every morning and breathe in and out all day long, you're dealing with your stuff. A tiny bit of intention is all it takes to begin healing.

Throughout our lives we collect scars through tough experiences or traumas. My hope is for you to understand that it’s okay to struggle, and it’s okay to have support and guidance. I pride myself in creating a safe and comfortable space for my clients, because comfort is part of the healing process and moving forward. I provide support with empowering individuals to overcome their struggles. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships that consist of trust, transparency, and empathy.

I was raised in a very dysfunctional family. While I will not go into details about this, that part of my life; the stress, anxiety, and depression led me to have a strong desire to not only understand the principles behind mental health but help others in dealing with their issues thus allowing them a bit of solace, easing that burden. Counselors, social workers, and psychologists are all people too, we usually are not perfect people trying to lead you down the perfect path. I have extensive knowledge and experience in the treatment of chemical dependency, PTSD, ADHD and mood disorders. I am very knowledgeable about psychotropic medication and can provide you with a lot of valuable information on ways to better manage medication.
