My areas of speciality focus on marriage counseling, pre-marital counseling, depression, anxiety, anger management, coping skill training to face life issues, sexual addiction, chemical addiction, poor self esteem issues.
I work with individuals, couples, and families in helping them achieve control over "emotional hijacking" and poor decision making. Feelings like fear, sorrow, anger, rejection prevent people from experiencing connectedness with life and with others. Therefore, the ideal client is one who is struggling with relationship problems, anger, addictions (sexual or chemical), poor stress control, depression, or anxiety-I provide a safe environment where the individual's pain and/or struggle is met with understanding alongside a plan of action to address the issue(s).

The spirit of and definition family is something that has grown and has become valued over the years. My life experiences have given me insight and perspectives that allow me to make unique connections with my clients. I learned that life is ever changing. I have come to realize is that during times when we feel defeated, it does not mean we are unable to change the outcome or our quality of life in the future. Nor, is it too late to create the life we do want.

They say, "Addicts get an early taste of hell on earth." Are you "struggling with addiction," cries are unheard, brokenness is unmanageable, and you are losing your confidence with no future? When I was young, I experienced the harm of drugs like a prodigal son leaving his father! However, after 30 years of 180-degree transformation, I have completed Doctorate of Ministry, CCPC Canada addiction certificates (7000 hours of practice), and senior counseling of marriage counseling. I welcomed nearly 1,000 Chinese addiction patients with all kinds of problems.

I help clients struggling with sexual issues and how those affect their relationships. Pornography use, affairs, emotional affairs, and online affairs can have a devastating effect on our primary relationship. How do you stop the behavior that is doing the damage? How can you repair the damage that has been done? Is the relationship salvageable at all? I can help. If you are not in a primary relationship, I can show you how the above behaviors may be keeping you from the successful intimate relationship that you desire.

I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma and PTSD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and substance use issues.
We are living in an unprecedented time where navigating uncertainty has become universal experience. You may find that you are having an especially hard time coping and adjusting to challenges such as working from home, working longer hours to stay employed, difficulty sleeping or and/or managing stress just to name a few. You might be exhausted, stressed out, burnt out, and can't even fathom how you will keep this going for even one more day let alone a week. No matter what you are currently facing I want you to know two things: 1) you are not alone and 2) there is hope. My name is Brittany and I am here to help.

Addiction takes a devastating toll on the struggler, the partner of the struggler, and the families.
Are you strained relationally, emotionally, and physically? Could it be that your story needs to be uncovered? Every person has a story and I find their stories so compelling - the joys, hardships, adversities, struggles, and passions. Life will throw all types of hardships we never imagined. You may have experienced loss, hurt, depression, or addiction and it seems impossible to sort it out. We all need relationships that provide support and wisdom to assist us during troubled times when we feel lost. My joy is to provide this path of growth to men because I have benefited so much in counseling.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
