Doug Sorensen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. He began his private practice in 1989 after working several years with individuals and families at an intensive outpatient chemical dependency program. His clinical experience includes extensive work with men seeking to rebuild their lives and their relationships from the devastating consequences of childhood trauma and addiction.
In 1996 Doug began training with Dr. Patrick Carnes regarding the use of his Task-Centered approach in the treatment of sexual addiction and co-addiction. He continues to utilize this treatment approach in his clinical practice and as a facilitator of intensive workshops.
Doug is a certified training supervisor for clinicians seeking certification as sexual addiction therapists by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). He has consulted with Baylor College of Medicine in the area of sexual compulsivity and has served as a guest lecturer in their human sexuality curriculum.
