As a counselor, I come alongside people who are in a difficult place in their life. Earlier in my life I needed someone to walk with me during a hard time, and I found the counseling process to be life changing and life giving. It changed how I see and relate to life, people, God, and myself. If you are struggling with your relationships or marriage, if you battle with depression or anxiety, are lacking hope, grieving deeply, or if you just feel stuck, I would like the opportunity to walk alongside you and help you process what change and living life differently would look like for you.

Do you struggle with substance use affecting every aspect of your day-to-day life? Maybe there's damage to your relationships, ability to function, job, or career. Do you feel trapped by the inability to freely choose your thoughts, emotions, or actions? Is getting through the day without self-medicating difficult or impossible? Do you wonder if it’s even possible that your experience of life could be better? Now more than ever, so many people feel anxious, overwhelmed, or uncertain about retaking control of their lives because they don't know how; or fear keeps blocking their best intentions. No wonder you’re so stressed.

I have experience in running psychoeducation and substance abuse groups with veterans.
I am a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Air force veteran who profoundly cares about life experience. I graduated with a Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. I am supervised by Jackson Wiggins LCSW-S. Life is hard, finding a good therapist shouldn't be. As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe space for you. I am aware that no two people are the same, so I work closely with clients to explore their concerns and therapeutic goals. Being vulnerable is one of the biggest hurdles when you are seeing a therapist. I build strong therapeutic bonds by being non-judgmental and open to your life experiences.

With a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Counseling, I believe in the work of this field. Whether this includes group therapy, addiction psychoeducation, or pre-marital counseling, it is my honor to walk with you as you seek to recover or grow. Life can be heavy and emotions difficult to regulate. Throughout your journey, I recognize that it can be life-changing to add a non-judgmental support with tools to your team as you work to reach your goals by using your own strengths. Just as hurt and betrayal often take place in relationship, so do healing and change. In a session with me, you matter and you are safe.

My experience also extends to working with a diverse population of adults, focusing on addiction recovery, co-occurring disorders, anxiety/depression, grief/loss, and life transitions.
A popular proverb states, “it takes a village to raise a child” and though the saying has become almost cliche, I believe it can apply to a person at any stage of life. Whether it be a season of happiness and celebration or a time of pain, stress, and crisis, we all need to know that someone sees us, hears us, and truly cares. Each person comes to therapy with individualized beliefs, thoughts, experiences, and stories. I want to get to know who you are, what your goals are, and how I can best support your healthy growth.

It takes a great deal of courage to admit that something's askew in your life, so thank you for taking the first (and arguably) the most difficult step towards help. Hello, my name is Kendall Campbell and I specialize in helping couples communicate effectively, manage and resolve conflict, and move forward from two of the greatest challenges that can affect relationships: Infidelity and Addiction. I believe relationships of any kind can help us overcome life's challenges and even grow through shared understanding.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
