Picking the right therapist isn’t easy. It’s not like some things where you can just google “Best Vacuum” and get a top ten list. If only it worked that way! Then again, maybe it shouldn’t. Therapy is a relationship and like all relationships, not everyone is a good match. We do get a sense when someone is (potentially at least!) right, and trusting that gut feeling is a good place to start. Honestly, I think reading something like this can give you an ok first impression, but nothing beats actually hearing someone’s voice, seeing their face. Then you can really know if you feel safe and are able to be yourself. That's so important.
That said, what would be helpful to know about me? I can work with all kinds of adults but I’m best for people who want to go deep and understand who they are and why they are suffering. I focus on the unconscious, mysterious forces that motivate (and demotivate!) us and I find that meeting multiple times a week is the best way to make a permanent change.
