Most people that enter therapy are stuck...whether it's in relationship conflicts, depressive cycles or life ruts. What helps to get 'unstuck' is a different view and new interactions. I believe all people and situations can change if you want them too. I work well with motivated and dedicated people and help you to find new solutions to your daily problems and conflicts. I am a very interactive, directive, and coaching based therapist who believes that without the skills necessary, the problems interactions will remain the same.

Your story doesn't end here. You are more than your experiences. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal, and it is my goal to help you find your way back to wellness. Let's start the next chapter together. My therapy approach is that of "Mind, Body, Soul" and believe that all three will influence someone's quality of life. Whether it be someone needing psychotherapy to address past traumatic events or someone who is holding their trauma in their body, everything revolves around alignment. I offer a variety of modalities that address the whole person, not just their mental needs.

You’re a dreamer. You have big plans for yourself. You are multi-passionate and curious. You are also anxious. You feel like what makes you unique also makes you lonely. You tend to intellectualize and brush off the negative and traumatic parts of your past because those feelings are not “productive”. But there is a little part of you that knows in order to accomplish the life you are envisioning, you might need to take a look at how parts of your past and current patterns are blocking you. Hey- I have been there. I still find myself there from time to time. The good news is you can experience relief and clarity.

Whether you're figuring out who you are, coming out to others, or looking for a place where you can explore other areas of your life, I can help. I can help if you're looking to explore sex, love, and relationships, if you're looking to heal old traumas, or you're managing an addiction. As an LGBTQ+ therapist who is a part of the community, I understand the need to have an affirming place to explore issues. I know everyone has their own journey figuring out their authentic sexual orientation and gender, but I also know that it can impact several areas of your life.

It is my belief that psychotherapy has the best chance to be effective when the client and therapist have a strong therapeutic alliance. That is, they have a good working relationship and are working toward exactly the same goals using methods or approaches best suited for the client. I strive to achieve this by providing a warm and safe climate, listening closely to the needs of my clients, and discussing our options and strategies.

First things first... You are not "broken"; there is not something "wrong" with you. Oh yeah, and you're not "crazy." We all develop views of the world and coping behaviors based on our life experiences. It's what your brain does naturally to help you adapt and survive! I enjoy helping my clients become aware of these skills and utilize them effectively. Simultaneously, I enjoy aiding clients in the development of new skills and tools to assist in places where the old ones just aren't working anymore.

My clients are burned-out peacemakers suffering from anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. They put others before themselves and struggle to set boundaries. Many had difficult childhoods where their emotional needs weren't fully met and may struggle with ongoing difficult family relationships with their parents and extended families. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy both virtually and in-person.

During life's challenges, you may find yourself overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally detached. It may seem like you're stuck- not knowing how to handle your intense emotions or, rather, feeling completely numb. Perhaps, while attending to the needs of others, you've lost touch with your own identity. Or maybe you have experienced something so challenging that it left you feeling disconnected and misunderstood. The relentless routine and to-do lists may give you the impression that change will never happen.

Do you struggle with a challenging relationship, that affects your day to day life, and ability to function? Do you feel overwhelmed with attempts to communicate and connect with your partner? Is it getting difficult to just get through the day? Has there been infidelity in the relationship? Are you questioning if the relationship will get better? Now more than ever, couples are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about overcoming difficulties in their relationships. Failing to discuss expectations, wants and needs can lead to long-term issues in your relationship. I believe it shouldn't be so hard to have a fulfilling relationship.

Do you ever feel like you're just skimming the surface of your life, dreaming of what could be? True freedom is about diving deep—connecting authentically with your dreams and the people around you. It's not easy to balance everything, especially when self-doubt creeps in. Yet, the effort to integrate all parts of your life can be profoundly rewarding. This isn't just about improving—it's about transforming. It's about making the leap from dreaming to doing and truly living your potential in a way that resonates with your deepest self.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Dallas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
