I am honored by the opportunity to help individuals find greater peace, strength, and fulfillment. Our lives are so busy, there is very little opportunity to stop and discover where support is needed. Taking this time for oneself, whether to reflect on one's relationships, to work through difficult emotions, or to gain awareness as to one's self-perceptions, can be transformative. Because self-compassion is key to healing, I try to template compassion through my own emotional engagement and respect for the client and his/her experience. I work primarily with depression, anxiety, young adult concerns, self-esteem, and existential issues. I also specialize in working with couples and lead a group for young adults (age 20-35). I am passionate about helping people develop a stronger connection to their authentic self through emotion-focused work.
I have 12 years experience in daily mindfulness practice. I also received 3 years training focused on the utilization of mindfulness and spirituality in emotional healing. Because of the strong empirical evidence linking mindfulness to increased emotional regulation, I often work with clients in holding their experience in compassionate awareness.

The young adults in my group often seek counseling in order to alleviate symptoms of anxiety or depression, as well as to understand themselves and how they relate to others. In general, group therapy is uniquely beneficial in helping individuals understand their relational patterns and giving them an opportunity to practice new ways of relating. Group can be a safe environment in which to explore one's self and one's reactions to others, as well as receive feedback and support. Group therapy clients gain insight into themselves and experience the healing that comes through connection with others.

Training Group for Therapists

I lead a number of training groups for therapists focusing on deepening use of 'experiential' therapies (ie approaches that utilize mindfulness, "in-the-moment" tracking, a focus on attachment processes, somatic awareness, etc.). I developed a 3-month program called Minding the Heart that draws on a number of modalities (primarily AEDP and SE) and integrates a number of approaches to understanding the brain (primarily interpersonal neurobiology and affective neurosience).
