My approach to substance abuse is with the assumption that it is a co-occurring disorder. Underlying issues need to be resolved in order to have success with long term recovery. Recovery is an individual process. With therapy, goal is to bring positive and fulfilling things into one's life that are incompatible with addictive or unhealthy behaviors.
