Some of my specialty areas include chronic pain, substance abuse, anxiety, body-focused repetitive behaviors (skin picking, hair pulling) and performance anxiety.
Are you feeling stuck or unhappy in some area of your life? Perhaps you have tried talk therapy but it hasn't helped. I offer an alternative solution for people who are interested in achieving deeper level change. I use a combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis to help my clients break free from their symptoms so they can live fuller, richer lives.

My work with creative people informs my therapeutic process when working with teens and young adults, addiction and recovery, life transitions, family systems, women's issues, and the challenges we all face as human beings.
CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! Do you feel STUCK, OVERWHELMED, or that you are NOT LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE? Do you say to yourself “IF ONLY I COULD...” (fill in the blank: make more money, lose 10 pounds, get that promotion, etc.), then I would be able to live the life I’ve always imagined? Are you struggling in your relationships? Maybe you're looking for someone to talk to about your job, relationships, life goals, or negative thinking patterns. Therapy is not a "one size fits all" process, and I work with my clients to help them navigate life’s challenges. I applaud you for taking the first step and exploring therapy!

The current unprecedented state of our world has presented many challenges and taken a toll on mental health and wellness, triggering the body's stress response, de-activating the immune system, and putting our mind/body in survival mode. This has the propensity to escalate anxiety, depression, addiction, and disease and reactivates outdated coping skills and keeps our body in fight or flight. Let's work together to create a strong support system to manage and navigate the stress and uncertainty and minimize the toll on our mental health, physical health, and relationships, and empower ourselves for the future.

My areas of focus include (but are not exclusive to) addiction, codependency, LGBTQ+ issues, and gender identity exploration.
You might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious about the prospect of embarking in therapy. It takes a lot of strength to take the first step to reach out for support, and you are well on your way to starting your journey of self-discovery. Perhaps you are confronting inner scripts that no longer serve you, struggling with restrictive thoughts and beliefs, or even re-visiting therapy for help with a specific challenge. Whatever the case, I will meet you where you are in your process, create the space for you to show up authentically, and provide the support you need to embark on your own inner exploration.

I work with individuals and couples who suffer from anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, and more.
Earning a doctorate has given me tools for facilitating a deeper connection with my clients. This includes the non-verbal communication that passes between us, processing emotions through the body, and allowing my clients to explore their personal traumas with my support. The goal of working in this psychodynamic, explorative way is to create a deep level of healing and change for my clients, so they are able to move beyond the fear and resistance that may be holding them back. Please look at my website for more information about me: https://www.woodlandhillstherapy.net

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
