For many of us, problems with concentration, low energy or motivation, and conflict with those close to us make each day a challenge, resulting in unhealthy coping methods. Anxiety and depression are oftentimes the cause for these difficulties. I help clients using a cognitive behavioral approach to treat those issues and others such as guilt, self-esteem, trauma, anger, addiction, GLBT issues, and family/behavior problems. I rely on a solution-focused, collaborative approach. My practice is geared toward children ages 8 & up, adolescents, and adults. My training with EMDR influences much of what I do in session: I have found that much of what influences us today has its origins in our earlier experiences and learning to get past those events is the key to moving forward and achieving happiness with ourselves and others.
I have received training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), which is an acknowledged treatment for trauma. Also, I am a member of the Oakland County Critical Response Organization (OCCRO) team. As a retired officer, I have been affiliated with the first responder community for the past 30 years.
