My patients are the people others bring their problems to: lawyers, physicians, finance and media professionals, fellow psychologists. If you're used to being the competent one, it's hard to sit in the other chair. I spent a decade in that world, practicing law in government, finance, and entertainment — you won't spend sessions explaining what a closing week is; we start at the actual problem. I treat anxiety, ADHD, depression, grief, trauma, and personality disorders, and I work with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy. I'm structured and goal-oriented: assessment first, clear goals, then time-limited treatment.
I am a faculty member at NYU's medical school and provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups using cognitive, behavioral, mindfulness, emotion-focused, and motivational interventions. I completed my PhD at Duke and my clinical training at Columbia, Duke, NYU Langone, and the VA. When not with patients, I teach post-doctoral fellows.
