I like working with people who are struggling. I believe that we all go through hard times; we struggle with life events as well as things that are more internal such as depression or anxiety. I believe that each person has an innate potential to grow but that we often live life on autopilot continuing to do the same things that perpetuate our struggles and pain. Therapy is a chance to slow down and look at these struggles. It is a chance to intentionally explore them and how to deal with them.
People come to therapy needing different things, so I try to fit the therapy to the person and not the other way around. Toward this end I am well versed in a broad range of therapeutic theories and techniques that emphasize processing emotions, changing thoughts, processing past experiences, and building skills.
I believe that despite your struggles you are valuable. It is a priority of mine to convey this value in therapy even as the struggles that brought you there are explored. I work with children and adults in individual and family therapy.
