I am trained and dedicated to help people navigate life’s challenges. Sometimes this is easy to identify – a difficult relationship, major loss or change, feeling anxious or depressed. Other times it may be harder to identify with words, but something in us or someone close to us has the strong sense that we need to investigate.
Talking about everything isn’t immediate, and it takes time to truly feel comfortable. My job is to create a safe and spacious environment to help that process develop.
A common misconception about therapy is that it focuses on the past, rather than moving forward with one's life. In reality, effective therapy does just the opposite. Therapy liberates one from the past. It allows one to develop what the psychoanalyst, Melanie Klein, calls, "a mind of one's own."
What at times may feel like our “destiny” are often unconscious repetitions or self-destructive ways of being. They keep us from progressing with ourselves and others. Working as a team, these patterns of thinking and behaving become more conscious and easier to recognize, creating access to new choices and new ways of being.
