Welcome! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 12 years of experience in the field. I work with clients ages 13 and above who have depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I am most comfortable working with clients who are self-motivated and do not have active addictions or suicidality. I use a Carl Rogers' client-centered approach with the gentleness of unconditional positive regard is one that describes my own. I also incorporate a mindfulness-based approach using self-compassion and awareness. My approach is holistic and eclectic and I customize the approach to each client's unique needs and openness.
I create an informal environment where I establish rapport and create a safe space where the client feels comfortable. When we have our first session and the initial intake, I broach the subject of goals and the importance of initially setting a goal or goals. I let clients know that the goals are fluid and can change or become clearer as time goes on.
During the first session, I will initially attempt to put the client at ease by breaking the ice with questions about where they live, their background, etc. I will then ask questions about what brought him/her to therapy, then go from there.
