Insight, acceptance and empowerment can be the keys to healing. I work with clients to reach new levels of self-understanding and to discover their own power of response in the midst of difficult life circumstances. I am passionate about supporting individuals as they find a path through anxiety, depression, post-college transitions, caregiving burnout, parenting support, infertility, or grief/loss. I work with individuals navigating life transitions like college, new jobs, marriage, divorce, pregnancy, and new parenthood.

Therapy can help you find the understanding, support, and acceptance you seek in your relationships and in yourself.
You're slamming the alarm clock; it was another night of broken sleep. You're feeling drained and wishing for a moment of peace and happiness. You are constantly giving to others when you're running low and rarely have time for yourself. You feel pressures and stress piling up and weighing on your shoulders. You want to reach out for help but are scared of being vulnerable and driving people away. At night when you lay down to sleep, the thoughts are racing and the worries return. All that you want is understanding, support, and acceptance.

Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

I believe that in order to be healthy, we need to be able to work, to love, and to play. If you are overwhelmed with anxiety or feelings of being lost, unsure of what you want, feeling less than whole, finding yourself procrastinating when you don't know why, or having repeated difficulty in relationships, I am hopeful you have come to the right place. By looking closely at what may be holding you back, we will be able to understand it with fresh eyes. This can lead you to your goals of relief from suffering, a greater sense of choice, and more freedom to express the self you most want to be.

Are you tired of feeling stuck? Overwhelmed with your emotions of desiring and wanting more? Do you self-sabotage by default because you think you are a failure? Have you repeatedly tried on your own, but you didn’t succeed, leaving you feeling frustrated, disappointed and defeated, again? Do You Think To Yourself: “If I had someone to show me exactly what it is that I need to do than I can have the life I've been wanting.” “If I had someone to show me the road map to getting me to my destination and hold me accountable to taking the necessary steps I need to get there.”

We live in a world of uncertainty, where feeling unsure, can create a climate, of fear, anxiety, depression and dramatic relationships change. When one feels isolated or lonely, and questions their strengths, it is a gift, This is an explanation, for so many symptoms we may suffer. We were not meant to be alone. With so many things going on in the world, it is often easy to neglect one's own mental health. Just as the physical health is important, so is the mental health. We provide a safe, private, and non-judgmental space, allowing clients the freedom to express themselves. It also important to understand that enlisting help is a sign of strength as it takes a tough person to admit when they need the support of a mental health professional.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
