I use a combination of therapeutic modalities starting from a psychodynamic lens, while incorporating CBT/DBT techniques, and I am also trained in trauma-focused CBT and ACT for adolescents.
I am a licensed counselor in NY/NJ with 8 years of experience in psychotherapy. I began my career working in a variety of roles at Northwell Health facilities including Zucker Hillside Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center. I have assisted children, adolescents, and adults in both crisis centers and weekly individual therapy. My current area of focus is working with teenagers and young adults. I aim to assist my clients in further developing their sense of self, working towards their goals, and maintaining an eager outlook on their future, while we sift through the barriers towards a better quality of daily life.

At times it may seem as if we're at odds with our mind. The thoughts and feelings we experience seem overwhelming. We can convince ourselves we're undeserving of contentment, love, happiness, success, acceptance, etc. Where does that come from and why is it so easy to believe? For those of us in the LGBTQIA+ community, there are added layers we need to work through, making it difficult for us to thrive. Therapy can play a meaningful role by providing a space to work through the layers, confront our hurtful thoughts and feelings, unburden ourselves of the past, and truly learn to thrive.

I primarily work with women ages 18+ who are facing relationship challenges, dealing with impacts of trauma, family conflict, or those who are caught in negative/anxious thinking patterns or behaviors. I aim to create a safe and supportive space where you can openly express yourself, explore your emotions and thoughts, and develop effective coping strategies to navigate life's obstacles with agency and confidence. Together, we can identify your goals and find your inherent strength and resilience.

I have extensive experience with treatment modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), etc.
In a city where the pace never slows down, the idea of finding a therapist who actually "fits" what you're hoping for can feel discouraging. I specialize in working with non-stop, high-achieving, high-demand professionals in their early 20s to mid 40s who feel stuck in life due to various mental health struggles and/or struggle to slow down. My diverse clinical experience both in and out of the forensic psychology field over the past 10+ years has allowed me to quickly assess what treatment approach(es) will most benefit each client.

I rely on modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Faith Based Counseling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Client Centered Therapy, allowing you the autonomy and ability to take control of your therapeutic experience.
I became a therapist to assist individuals navigate different stressors and transitions in a healthy way. But what I desired more than anything was to create a safe space and represent those who resemble me. As a psychotherapist, I aim to treat pre-teens, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, low self esteem, difficult life transitions, grief and other life challenges. I take an eclectic approach to my therapeutic practice to ensure the needs of all clients are met, both personally and culturally.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
