I'm here to help you navigate life's complexities with reflection, acceptance and courage, while simultaneously challenging you to establish healthy cognitive & behavioral patterns.
I believe that symptoms are the psyche's way of communicating, urging us to delve deeper into understanding and nourishing our inner selves. I aim to foster acceptance and understanding, even of the parts of ourselves we may find objectionable, recognizing their inherent value in our journey towards wholeness. Together, we'll explore the depths of your experiences, understanding that the work is often most intense where the soul resides. We will also clarify your values and character strengths within the fluid fabric of human experience. My goal is to support you in living with greater clarity, peace, intuition, and sense of self.

I conduct my work with radical acceptance and an anti-racist framework.
My clients typically enter therapy hoping to learn more about themselves, gain tangible coping skills, build meaningful relationships, and process & heal from trauma. They often experience one or more of the following: disordered eating, depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, neurodivergence, PTSD, ADHD, exploring gender or sexuality (or both!), codependency, or PMDD. Recognizing the systemic roots of many presenting problems, I validate the past experiences of clients who have felt like therapy wasn’t for them and recognize the roles of privilege and politics in mental health. I work with individuals, couples, and families.

I am an AASECT certified sex therapist and specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness to help you navigate your pain.
Pain is an unfortunate reality of the human experience. Sometimes, our attempts to control or avoid pain, whether it's physical, psychological, or otherwise, also pulls us away from other things in our lives that are important to us, resulting in a less fulfilling life. Your decision to pursue therapy is a significant step towards finding a more workable way to manage the things in your life that cause pain. My therapeutic approach is focused on learning to step out of the struggle against your pain and use the strengths you already possess to put you in the driver's seat of your life and be your best and most genuine self.

I draw on ERP, CBT, DBT, ACT, and Mindfulness principles and interventions to help encourage insight and behavioral change.
I know that going to therapy can feel scary. Talking to someone about your struggles is a vulnerable place to be so it’s important to choose a therapist who you can trust and connect with. I place value on building a therapeutic relationship that is supportive, trusting, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. My aim is help people cultivate more authentic and gratifying lives. While I am best known as an eating disorder specialist, I have extensive experience in treating anxiety, depression, body image, low self-worth, and interpersonal relational difficulties.

I work from a third wave behavioral approach (ACT) that will empower you with coping skills to overcome these obstacles. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it can start today.

I incorporate elements of ACT, CBT, Mindfulness, and insight-oriented therapy into my approach, alongside interpersonal qualities of warmth, transparency, and a sense of humor.
Therapy can be a safe and non-judgmental space for both cultivating reflectiveness and implementing positive changes. Whether you are looking to find relief from specific distressing emotional experiences, work on your relationship with yourself and others in your life, develop better coping skills, or address barriers that block you from living your life fully, I consider it an honor to help you address the struggle and emotional pain which bring you to therapy. Together, we can help you build a life which brings greater fulfillment, meaning, and joy, even in the face of life’s inevitable setbacks, losses, and disappointments.

I integrate a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational interviewing (MI), feminist-oriented therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness.
The therapy process can be a daunting endeavor. As humans, we heal and grow through building trusting relationships that allow us to surrender to the inner work that will promote change and heighten our connectedness with ourselves and others. Through building on your strengths and offering therapy tailored to your needs, my goal is to meet you where you are at and to support you in identifying ways you can live in alignment with your values and core self. Together, we will explore the intersections of physical and psychological health, cultural identities, relational dynamics, and their collective impact on your overall wellbeing.

I believe in hope and I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of hope to change someone’s trajectory. For the last 13 years, I’ve worked in various therapeutic roles in NYC, advocating for marginalized communities and working to instill hope where it's needed most. I believe in kindness, compassion, and understanding. I want my clients to have a chance to learn internal kindness, and to ultimately see themselves through a lens of self-love and self-acceptance. If you’re struggling with doubt, anxiety, insecurity, or depression, you deserve to talk to someone and start your healing journey towards self-compassion.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
