Through an approach based on acceptance, mindfulness, and self-compassion, I work alongside you to help you connect to your most authentic sexual self.
You have a complicated relationship with sex. There are many reasons for this, and you recognize the need to explore exactly how it all connects. You want to feel more confident as a sexual being, overcome anxiety around sex, and feel a deeper connection to yourself and your partner(s).

I use an eclectic therapeutic approach where I often utilize and adapt interventions from CBT, DBT, and ACT to meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be.
I want to commend you for taking the first step of looking for counseling services. Reaching out for help is not an easy task, it takes a lot of self-awareness and courage. Coming to therapy can be nerve-racking, so it is my goal to create a space for you to feel safe, where you can be brave to be your authentic self. Life is tough, you are tougher, and together we can practice ways to overcome a variety of life's difficult challenges. Our sessions together will be tailored specifically to you, your needs, and your goals. While people can experience similar life challenges, therapy is not a one-size-fits all solution.

I incorporate methods from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and gestalt therapy to help you mindfully notice patterns of feeling/thinking/behaving that emerge in your life.
I appreciate you taking an important step towards your personal growth! It takes a great deal of courage to seek extra support. Therapy is a safe space that allows you to reflect on your experiences, to better connect with your needs, wants, and ultimately what your body is telling you, in a world that can be fast paced and impersonal. My hope in our work together is that you are better able to lead a life aligned with your values, become kinder and accepting to the vulnerable parts of you, and can better connect with others while you confront the breadth/depth of your humanity.

As a doctoral-level psychologist, I've received advanced training in a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and ACT.
Initiating change in life is hard, but therapy can help you make movement in areas where you have felt stuck. I believe the work we do in therapy is not only about feeling better or gaining insight, but also about feeling whole. While the process can be difficult, it can also be rewarding. I enjoy doing this work with my clients and appreciate being a part of their process. I recognize how difficult it can be to find the right therapist and I’m happy to speak to you by phone for a free consultation. Don't hesitate to email me with any questions.

I am committed to an anti-racist, anti-oppressive approach and incorporate psychodynamic work, CBT and ACT.
My experience working in the mental health system for over 10 years has shown me the impact of oppressive systems on the well-being of individuals. This is why I believe as a therapist it is my duty to view all client struggles through systems theory (the impact of external systems on an individual versus the independent “deficiencies” of one person). Your struggle may be tied to race, culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, neurodivergence, etc. Maybe you’re having a hard time setting boundaries, focusing on your own needs, forming healthy relationships, breaking intergenerational patterns, or not reaching your goals.

My approach to therapy is rooted in my firm belief in the power of self-exploration through a collaborative approach. I aim to be warm, open-minded and inquisitive with my clients in order to establish an authentic connection where I can learn what has led each client to therapy as well as what they wish to happen next. My hope is that my clients will feel a shift towards self-acceptance and growth over the course of our time together. I strive for my clients to develop insight in which they are able to take what they learn about themselves in sessions and apply it to their life outside of therapy in practicable and actionable ways.

If you're hurting right now that doesn't mean something is wrong with you. Many people who work with me learn that the behaviors they want to overcome are normal responses to life’s challenges. That doesn’t mean that you need to get used to sleepless nights, racing thoughts, panic attacks, or depressive episodes. I’ll help you make sense of why you are responding in these ways and together we’ll help you find relief. The work we do will involve radical self-acceptance.

Having developed a practice centered around increased mindfulness and acceptance, I utilize aspects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and other modalities to help you gain the insight you need to develop better tools and strategies for living a happier, healtier life.
Many people struggle with mental health issues but are afraid or nervous to get the help that they need, all while unaware that this is a completely normal process. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to reduce that fear by providing a welcoming therapeutic environment hat allows each client to do the necessary work at their own pace. Said mental health issues may include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma as they can also manifest in anger management issues, self esteem concerns, difficulties with life transitions, relationship/intimacy concerns, imposter syndrome or more.

My practice is rooted in ACT, CFT and Psychodynamic theories, and I have made anti-racism and disability justice a core tenet of my practice; I hold my role with responsibility and care.
When it comes to finding the right therapist for you, there’s no one-size-fits-all! It is my goal to see the full you and to be curious about what you uniquely need as the dynamic human that you are. I honor your personal values, past experiences and place in the world. Above all, I prioritize a feeling of relational safety, and I don’t subscribe to the idea that therapy needs to be uncomfortable or overwhelming; I care about your limits and boundaries and I trust your intuition. I also bring myself into the room with humor and compassion, and you’ll be able to feel my warmth and presence in a reliable and kind way.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
