Currently offering a variety of evidence-based counseling services, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy and more.
Do you catch a glimpse of the finish line, yet it seems out of your grasp? Taking these steps can be overwhelming, occasionally sapping our motivation. The journey from where you are to your destination has countless stages. The unexpected detours that life throws at us can block our path and make navigation seem unmanageable. During these moments, I help you identify your desires and empower you to make those positive changes in your life. I understand that making the decision to seek help can be difficult, so I use an approach that is compassionate, direct, and non-judgmental creating an environment where you feel supported.

I work with adult and adolescent clients with various backgrounds and experiences focusing on concerns of depression, relationship challenges, cultural and LGBTQ+ identity, sexuality, burnout, life transitions, and self-acceptance.
Do you sometimes worry if who you are is "wrong," stuck focusing on harmful messages or unrealistic expectations? Do you feel a little lost in who you are and what you want, then find thinking about it gets overwhelming? If there are times when life feels heavy or you feel like hiding away until you're "put together," you are not alone. It helps to have a space to put life's many complexities aside - to take the rules, systemic barriers, and needs of yourself and others, put them all down, breathe, and unpack. Looking for that space is a big step. I'm here to create that space with you.

My clients can expect an environment free of judgment, full of understanding and empathy, where they can face the challenges that they have in a supportive environment. My personal background allows me to look at client issues from a different view and offer real world healing that meets the client where they are. My client’s come from various backgrounds, but all seeking to better understand themselves and a better way of coping. Because I’m seeing clients virtually, they feel freer to share more intimate and personal concerns that might be harder to talk about in person.

I am passionate about helping others in their journey, being a Sherpa of sorts, as I walk alongside them through their discomfort, missteps, and perceived obstacles, until they find their balance of acceptance, change, growth and healing.
I am an eclectic therapist, using best practice, evidence-based interventions; such as but not limited to CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, spiritual connection, and experiential art exercises. The underpinning of my approach is authentic person centered, conversational talk therapy. I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach. Purpose and meaning and how we get there is different for everyone.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
