Clinically I pull from CBT, solution-focused therapy, ACT, and psychodynamic therapy depending on the needs of the client.
As a therapist I work with clients who are ready to feel empowered to work through life's challenges and grow into their most authentic self. I champion clients as they heal through past traumas, work on boundaries, and create fulfillment in their lives. Together we can address anxiety, depression, life transitions, boundaries, relationships, career transitions, and unhealthy coping skills that no longer serve you.

I practice many types of therapy, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
If you’re here, chances are you’re looking for a change. Maybe you are unhappy in your relationships, or struggling with body image or food, or maybe you are stuck in what seems like a never ending cycle of depression, anxiety and hopelessness. Perhaps it feels like you can’t catch a break between responsibilities and the constant over stimulation of society. It's okay if you've fallen down- let's get you back on your feet.

I understand that therapy is a vulnerable act of self-care, and it is not always easy to find a therapist that best suites you.
Since becoming a therapist, I have been pursuing my passion of providing high quality therapeutic care to those who have experienced chronic, complex trauma and are now wanting to break the cycle and heal. I am a firm believer that trauma impacts our whole beings. And left untreated, trauma takes an emotional and physical toll that wreaks havoc on our mind, bodies, and spirits. I take pride in working with my clients to build a collaboration and empowering my clients to be the expert in their own lives and be the drivers in their own treatment process. I also offer clinical supervision to those working towards licensure.

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) interventions to meet client needs.
It is easy to identify the changes that we want to make, but much harder to put those goals into action. Experiencing difficulties in changing behaviors or overcoming painful emotions doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with you; it means that you’re human. Therapy provides an opportunity for you to learn tools that support behavior change; resolve the origins of the behaviors; and receive support and compassion throughout the process. We can work together to remove the roadblocks on the path to your most fulfilling, joy-filled life.

My beliefs are clients hold the keys to their own healing and addressing the trauma in their lives. You have to be the driving force and navigator behind the pursuit of a healthy mind, body, and spirit. The act of being heard and understood is healing in-and-of itself, but an outside view, to guide or push us down the path of self-enlightenment and self-healing, helps. I understand the idea & process of gaining self-awareness via counseling can seem overwhelming and intimidating, but I believe it's actually a safe opportunity for personal growth, development, and achievement.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
