My passion lies in the practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a therapeutic approach rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
If someone waved a magic wand and all your problems disappeared, what would you be doing that you’re not doing now? What would you stop doing that you are doing now? My goal is help you to figure out what habits are helping you, and which ones are getting in your way. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, and other mood disorders.

I would be honored to hold this space for you so that you may experience self-acceptance and empowerment.
What is common to every one of us are experiences of hardship followed by the emotional unraveling of our lives. In these moments, we are called to acknowledge the reality of our struggle, to honor our emotions through expression within the safe spaces they deserve, and to experience healing, strength and the confidence to meaningfully move forward. Therapy is a process of discovery wherein we may explore and discuss comparative self-criticism based on anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and major life changes. I believe that healing through meaning-making is possible through self-compassion.

I use Synergetic Play Therapy with younger kiddos and I find the sweet spot of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and CBT to help both children and adults.
Let's be honest, life's been tough for adults and kiddos. Have you noticed yourself feeling more anxious and worried? Have you or your child felt more isolated, more irritable, and less like yourself/themselves? I help children, teens, and adults become more confident, more able to manage big emotions and more effective in relationships. I collaborate with parents to develop a clear path to healing for your child and provide regular, check-ins with parents. Let's get you or your child feeling more connected and hopeful.

I value using evidenced-based CBT and ACT interventions so clients gain confidence in coping, managing moods, sleep regulation and navigating relationships.
New parents face challenges including anxiety, loneliness, self-blame and sleeplessness. Moms want to feel confident to care for their babies with a sense of calm and peace. I provide a safe, nurturing environment for new moms and their partners to explore their unique journey of motherhood and the anxiety and depression that can often arise. I work closely with new parents to continue to grow outside of the office. My passion is teaching moms to manage emotions, adjustments, and changing relationship dynamics that emerge in the earliest months of parenthood and throughout the journey of motherhood.

Sometimes the hardest thing is asking for help. Choosing to enter therapy is a courageous act and one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Finding the right therapist for you, someone whom you can trust, who makes you feel safe, and believes in you might feel difficult and daunting at times but is also one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy. I feel honored and grateful to each and every one of my clients who entrusted me with their stories and embarked on their healing journey with me. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you gain the necessary insight and skills to live the life you want and deserve.

I use an integrated approach to therapy implementing such techniques as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-informed approaches.
Asking for help is a courageous thing to do. It is hard and rewarding work to look at yourself and your life and be willing to make changes. I consider it an honor and privilege to walk with you through this part of your journey. I believe counseling should be an open experience, with trust and collaboration as critical elements. I focus on nurturing a strong, therapeutic relationship that creates an environment where you can feel safe sharing your personal stories. My approach is non-judgmental, accepting, and warm.

My approach is trauma-informed and rooted in CBT, DBT, and ACT.
Sometimes our experiences in life lead to us having difficulty finding motivation, feeling anxious about our future or the mistakes of our past, and/or maintaining habits that no longer work for us. Depression, anxiety, and trauma can also have an effect on how we navigate our relationships. Maybe we're needing to reignite a passion of ours or find a what brings us calm. Although our struggles can feel isolating, it's important to remember that we don't have to figure out how to cope alone and we aren't meant to.

CBT, ACT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and/or Motivational Interviewing have been highly beneficial for helping clients.
Feeling stuck? Trying to get back the focus, direction, and passion in life? In an environment free of judgment and rich in support, I believe it is important to utilize my client’s strengths to help empower the change process. By identifying values and specific goals, together we create a path to lead us in the desired direction. With my background in the education field, I have seen how children, as well as, adults struggle with the routine of the day when there is something heavy on their mind. I strive to help my clients identify how to remove this heaviness, and lead the life they have been wanting.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
